Yeah, I liked that Blue MAG too. Too bad he had to stop his build topic right before getting to how the upper is done.

He had to stop or just did stop?

From memory he was using a pretty stretchy material over the foam, similar to how the 1989 movie shoe was made.

I think what I need to do with mine is to make a vegan leather template of the whole shoe (IE cuff and out as one) and then use that as the stiffener inside. I don't want to use foam because I want to turn this from "breathable" to a plastic bag. Even with the mesh I was using. Maybe just adopt and modify some of the techiques on the V2 - ie sew the cuff onto this part.

Even though I used the lasts to make the liners take shape, they were assembled without the lasts and so I think all that is needed is the two points - c entre of heel and centre of toe which can be found by placing the upper over your own foot, mark centre of the heel and mark the 2nd toe at the end of the of the "clean toe. These points also seem to line up when you simply fold the upper in half. However, you need to find these points on the sole pattern as folding that in half does not work.

His last post said something about "rough times" and hasn't posted since. So I guess had to stop.

I should get my hands on some of that vegan leather. See how it stacks up against the real thing. I know that synthetic leather lace is pretty tough and I'm sure it's some kind of similar micro-fiber product.

for anyone still needing panels, you can check my threads in junkyard.

Example of a full DIY EL Panel kit installed by Seb in France who sent some pics to me.
Since its fully EL powered, you get longer battery life at the compromise of a slightly less brighter ankle bubble light area.

QUESTION FOLKS!!!!! ive been on a fruitless quest to find out what type of textile/fabric is used on the Official Nike Air Mags &/or movie version Air Mags. Same goes for my search of what kind of paint to use for my mid-soles & where to find it? I'm making replica Air Mags from scratch in case you were wondering :):thumbsup

Also, if anyone knows what type of device was used to make the powerlaces i've been seeing coming out of the wood work from people on instagram & youtube....i'd be extrememly grateful!!!! .

I don't think you will find the stuff on the shelf. When NIKE took their single "screen used shoe" to Taiwan, they didn't find anything readily available either, so they had fabric makers custom make it for them.

What are you making the mid-soles out of? Because I mold and cast, I mixed a heap of light grey into a larger container so I would have consistent results cast to cast.

The only true way to colour match is to use a colorimeter (that I just so happen to have) and here is my colour match of the aqua used on the MAG and splatter compared to a reference shot of the screen used shoes. I'd be curious to see how close I got grey.

You can paint the leather if they re too dark ;) checkout angelus leather paint ;)

Yeah I ran a test with vinyl paint as well as that seems to bite right in. So I can spray them light grey.

Here's a few clips on a project with the same stuff i learned here from you guys integrated into a old pair of Jordan 1's.
I think i'm getting better, ill keep learning and keep trying.
Thank all you guy's for sharing your information and research with me all these years.
You all have been a big inspiration to me to try to learn from you guys and try customising shoes!

amazing

On the subject of batteries.
I was checking out the micro usb lithium charging boards like these
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-x-Micro...g-Module-LiPo-Charger-TP4056-UK-/401068964191

Would these be sufficient to protect the battery?
I'm going to try wire up the full EL kit using this method using a 3.7v lipo battery.
Then it could mean simply cutting a section in the white ankle piece to allow the usb connection.

I found some of these also
https://www.coolcomponents.co.uk/powerboost-1000-charger-rechargeable-5v-lipo-usb-boost-at-1a.html

if anyone has any other recommendations, let me know.
Since most of these have built in protection, we should be able to connect a 3.7v lipo battery easily and run everything off it without issues.

I'm just trying to see where the on/off switch cable would go onto these boards.

As normally in 9v circuit, one lane of the on off switch and one lane of the inverter is going to the 9v cable connector.
So same needs to be done to the lipo charging circuit.

I got a TapATalk notification that someone wanted to know who to glue their sock toe back down. I responded to the thread via TapATalk and the post did not stick and I can not seem to find it again. Anyone know how that was or what thread it was?

Picked up some Shibusa's today. They do share *some* MAG dna I suppose.... the speckle on the sole, the elastic instead of laces, plus the grey/white colour scheme, it's gotta be deliberate on Nike's part, eh? A vague reference to the MAGs. Pity they are only low-cuts. Who knows, maybe a mid-cut one day?

Yeah i would say Nike did this on purpose....the little 'heel cup' they have on the back has got to be a little MAG reference too.

Pretty cool looking shoe I think, if MAGs were actually sports shoes....they would be the more casual version you'd wear after you wear done playing :lol

I didn't find time to finish my custom Shibusa... for like 2 mouths :-/
As soon as I saw these shoes, I've ordered a pair !
@cavx : did you made some progress on your buildup of lether Mags ? (you should make a thread for that)

:) yeah. Pity they're just the common thing of making the midsole foam actually be the outsole, that's gotta be less durable than actual rubber. On the plus side, the Shibusas have an actual air unit, so cushioning is good. The no-rubber-outsole seems to be the in thing at the moment for some reason, my Nike Roshes also don't have rubber outsole. I expected them to wear away much faster than they are though, so maybe it's not all bad. I've worn my modded V2's around enough to wear down Cavx's clear soles rubber a bit :)

Just found an old picture of my test for these back - I think that these where lost when I moved in my new appartement :-(
I'll make some new one soon with better lettering.

As you said, there is a air bubble in these shoes so I don't think I'm gonna dig in the sole to place some lights or gitd...
I don't know where it stops and the size of the air bubble.

The other modification would be the tongue. I'll probably do the same system as I did for the HC and V2 (checkout my Instagram for some info somedays = https://www.instagram.com/mokka_deez/ ) :)

What might the person who found it thought. They probably thought you were a Nike Prototype tester.
