Nike Mag V2 Mod Discussion (Page 58 Shopping List)

Can someone please update a shopping list to be relevant today Oct 22nd 2015. All the links don't work anymore. I have been looking but do not want to get the wrong thing. It would be absolutely amazing.

This would be a life-saver. I've been trying to look around for tutorial videos as well on how to mod my V2 Mags, but can't seem to find anything. Most of the videos are not step-by-step & then others are unfinished tutorials. :cry
If anyone has any information on informative video tutorials, or even instructions in writing, I'd be incredibly grateful. I figure it's time for me to start a project for myself!!!!

Yeah they're using the same shoe, same box, same poster all of it is a real shoe. I'm waiting to see a final product from a customer purchase (not from them) before I buy anything so I don't expect to even consider purchasing til at least January or February after they release in December (which they claim) but aside from that I think they send shoes according the YouTube customer reviews I've seen.

Via live chat they told me the authentic Nike Mags will be released "in about two weeks" and that was about 4 days ago. It's the "in two weeks" game all over again and I hope it's not a scam.

That's what they told someone on IG who was gonna dm pics of his pair, but in live chat they told me it will release in December. I'm just not gonna preorder or purchase until I see others with theirs and satisfied with the quality. The only rep site I really trust is perfectkicks but they said they won't be making any mags smh

But if there is a v3 maybe the next step in replica modding will be the power laces? Think you guys would be up to it? Or is that just a little too pricey to tear apart and rebuild lol

The hardware inside the real power lace shoes are no doubt custom made and will be very difficult if not impossible to replicate.

Really? A small stepper motor and drive shaft?

The challenge is making the strap tighten first, then the main laces then the lights.

Well I have no idea how the electronics worked. Good to know it's just simple components. But still very slow.

Maybe a controller chip?? Small arduino or something? I winder what that girl, that does the power laces on youtube, uses

I want to play with this and I think the best way to do this is have the excess strap pass through a slot under the foot, not wind onto a spool. A small rubber wheel in a shaft and motor could be enough to pull the strap. Friction is the issue here and why these will never be fast like in the film.

I'm extremely skeptical about these rep websites releasing something THAT close to the 2011 models that they're posting all over IG & YouTube. Like many others have said, they look EXACTLY like the RDs. I'm going to wait to see people's reviews as well before preordering. I went through hell getting my V2's from a company called RepKicks, so I'll have to find another company as well before I begin that buying process again if they do come out. Haha

I've got a concept in mind that would simulate the movie-style of tightening without a motor.

Just springs and cables and a heel activation.

Basically take one of those locking ID reels and use it to pull things into place by mounting it in the heel, then use something similar to bike brake cable to transmit the energy in the right direction.

What about making the pop out of the laces on the show, an aluminum or plastic tube like casing in the same form (but not as buldgy as the HC mags lol), with the wire or lace inside, to ease the friction??

Right. Programming from the "control unit" that would be the most difficult to reverse engineer not to mention I guarantee it's encrypted or locked down one way or another. You gotta deal with the pressure sensor in the heel, making the straps stop when they reach a certain (initial) resistance around your foot. Then there's the metal locking piece that keeps the strap from coming loose, when you press the red button to loosen everything up (reverse motor), that locking piece needs to disengage first. etc. etc. etc. Maybe I'm just thinking way into it to much. It could be really simple who knows.

I think the reason you'd have trouble getting them to lace like the movie is because small motors and low torque.

Could anyone of you guys assist me with the wiring of el sole , strap and ankle bublble on switch ? I looked at most of the tutorials and it just confuses me and I would just like a helping hand .

...Can we stop rumor-mongering? Again, I will eat my lenticular hat if we get official Nike Mags this year.

-Nick

Guys, seriously?! None of that confirms anything. Keep modding. I'll eat my lenticular hat if there are official Nike Mags this year.

-Nick

No one's mentioning this? I mean, they're technically not actually coming out this year, but.... I believe there's still a hat that needs to go through someone's digestive system.:p
