Si tu en veux, j'en ai. Je ne m'en suis pas servi.
I will definetly need some for sure i don't want to solder anything, so at least with the glue it will stay in place whatever happens and will be easy to fix if needed.
I will give a try too for a solded version if i have a rest of el sheet but i am sure it is just a matter of how to apply and the mount applyed to glue the wire.

Not sure if what I have is the same as the stuff you guys are using, but mine has an adhesive backing.

My EL Supplier said:
Hi Mark,

Should be straight forward. Peel off the back and stick it to the dark side of the EL panel. It sticks really well to that surface.
Just remember there are two circuits, the inner one and the outer bus. The copper ribbon from the inner must not come into contact with the outer bus to prevent a short. This can be achieved by bridging the bus circuit with Kapton tape which has a high heat resistance and excellent dielectric properties. Any other electrical tape should do the job also but since Kaption tape has a very high heat resistance (260 deg C) it can be used as a shield in case you need to solder directly on the back of the EL without damaging it.

Alternatively just cut away the section of the bus instead of bridging it.

Hope it makes sense.

The wire glue works well. You just need to some hot glue, or some shoo goo, over the connections to reinforce them. A tip for the wire glue is to put a little on a piece of paper and then hit it with a heat gun for a few seconds until it thickens up. Makes it easier to use and it has less of a wait time to set.

Went to my first comic con today and got a bunch of inquiries on my mags. The hoverboard was what most people recognized though. As cool as it was to have all these people want to take pictures of me, I don't feel like I got to enjoy the con like I should have. May have to go as an average Joe next year lol

Hey all.

This is my first time visiting this thread in a while. Been thinking of tackling the sole EL mod, but I wanted to ask: what's currently he preferred method for detaching the sole from the V2's to get to the electronics?

AHHHHHH!!! These were the custom painted MAG's that were the black and gold. someone ended up stripping off the paint....WTF?????!!!!!!! Now the lights don't work, the paint has been destroyed and the shoes are WORTHLESS!!

Marty Jr. is not pleased!

Well crap, at least we know the base was dyed/cast in that color of light grey. Seeing these MAGs being mishandled (most likely they're thinking they can get another pair come Oct 21 :facepalm) I'm surprised nobody has done a full tear-down/reverse engineering and check out all the internals and frame structure. It does look like the toe has been creased and worn down to get that sock-type to it

Those poor things need to be put out of their misery...and then have their components studied, molded, and duplicated for our benefit.

I just don't get how that guy thinks he's getting away with calling them the "original color" or thinks they're worth anywhere near $3,500 after the hell they've been put through.

I will never understand people.

What is the asking price?

I'd ever so carefully "reverse engineer" them.

$3,500.

That was my thought as well, but people think for some reason these shoes are worth oodles even if they're lit on fire and actively carrying ebola.

No way. I'd give him a grand. max, as is.

Just looking carefully at those images and can see cracks in the mid-sole. Clearly a case of "It is not the years, its mileage..."

If I were you I would offer him $1000 and explain exactly why they are not worth $3500. They would have been worth more if they stayed black. Maybe this is what we need. If you discover how the uppers are made then you can master your project of trying to create them. You could end up doing what people have wanted cloneprops to do. Make a full replica of the shoes to sell. You have the clear soles mastered, and you are working on casting soles and heel cups. If that ends up costing too much and taking too much time the stock V2 soles and heel cups work alright.

Random question. Do the HCs have the texture on the soles and heel cups? And do they run big like the V2s?

Even a grand (in my opinion) is being generous. They may take you up on it you never know. What were they thinking!? They look ridiculous! I don't see how they thought this would be a good idea.

What if we all chipped in?

If the guy would part with them for a grand, I'd still be looking at close to another $2000 by the time I molded and cast all the parts from them, but the parts would be 100% accurate. Unfortunately, they would all be what ever size those shoes are. Then there is the challenge of the uppers. Speaking of, I finally got all the materials including that special (#40 UV stable poly-spun, will NOT break with your hands) thread for my uppers project, so will be able to start on that again soon.

Really not sure as I have only seen the HCs but never test wore them. AFAIK, they use the same mid-sole/outer soles parts as the V2, just the heel cup is a new part due to it not having the branding.

What I am interested in knowing is about their XL and XS sizes as I really want a pair of US7s for true 1:1 display on my hover board. The US8s look good, but since working on mine, I want a smaller ankle buckle. So I have been looking at re-working my older vac-formed version as a base for a new rubber part over a reworking the CP 3D printed part. I am also reworking a pair of heel cups to have the 1" tall MAG letters and a more rounded shape. I am probably going to have to use sand on the part when I mold it to give it a texture close to the original parts.

We can only ask him. He either agrees or disagrees to that The fact remains, he destroyed the shoes and in all honesty, I think a pair scratch build pair from reverse engineering them would probably look nicer than the mess they are in right now. At least the lights would work :)

I think the best thing to do would be just to study how the uppers are made if you can get the RDs on eBay. The V2 soles aren't bad at all when it comes to shape. A little too wide but not bad. And you already have your soles molded for the V2s. Will the cloth of your uppers be similar in looks to the RD and movie shoe?

You can do that from the playing with the patterns. I have already figured out many parts to the shoes just by making up some different versions. The idea of buying the shoes is to have the most accurate parts. Again, in a once size only option regardless if they are the real soles or my V2s. And do we even know what size these are?

So far, the has been a cloth similar to the V2 uppers, but nothing quite like the 2011 MAGs.
