The coating for a box would have to be a material thin as paper but doesn't rip or wear out easily with repedative movement. As in opening and closing the box.

My plan was always to use matte yellow vinyl like the kind you would buy for a vinyl cutter. (Silhouette or Cricut style)

I will probably make a pair for me to see if i can do everything myself then offer to sale some ready to wear pairs for people that don't have the time/knowledge to do it as i received few messages asking for costum pairs.

I'm going to stop by hobby lobby today and see if they have a similar box to the one in the Nike box thread then probably look into some yellow vinyl to cover it with. That box had similar dimensions and would be close enough for me, definitely better than the v2 box.

If you're in the US, Michaels and Joann both have similar magnetic boxes. The largest sizes are similar to the size of the RD box, but should fit a pair of shoes so long as you don't have gigantic feet.

Here's a shot of the box I bought from one of those two stores a few years back:

And a mod I did to shorten the box and flatten the flap more like the RD box:

And here's the barcode in case it helps find it:

In black with the yellow letters, would look pretty hot.

The friends and family box was just normal shoe box cardboard with a cut out handle for opening. I think the best think to do is copy the design of the yellow box but make it black with yellow Nike footwear on it.

There is another brand (or style) that also has LEDs and they change colour and work with an app on a smart phone. What I found interesting about the other brand is that the pattern (whilst not a hi-top) is actually the same as the MAG with the clean toe and two seam construction

Quick test fit 16 x 14 box, biggest I could find and size 10 shoes. Going to be a very tight fit to get them to sit in the box properly.

Hatfield has been very careful re: discussing the Mags. For instance, he's been quoted as saying there WILL be power laces in 2015... Just not on a Mag:

People think he's being careful or vague. He's not. He is saying what he wants to say.there will be power laces and they won't be MAGs. It's simple.
