The reality is, the MAG shoes were a future prediction movie prop/costume. Only a few things seen in that film are real today (large, wall mountable flat screen TVs, tablets with apps will now scan your credit card, but I have not seen a thumb print reader on such devices yet ) and power lace shoes are not one of them. NIKE wants to be seen as the leader of sports wear/shoes. The MAG is a wonderful design, but it is NOT a sports shoe. This is why Reebok never released a proper full height version of their Stomper from ALIENS either.

Hey guys, long time lurker and I've been in progress with modding my mags.

This stuff is so much fun!

So anyways, I'm having some trouble consistenly getting the EL to light up. I have tried to attach the way the master magger (jedifyfe) has shown (also mentioned on page 2hundo). Is there something im missing here?

Thanks!

keeper, are your connections all soldered? EL is a bit finicky where it wants a proper solid connection. I find it hard to light the panels by just touching the terminals. Alligator clips seem to work for test purposes.

I heard that solder is too hot for the panel and it ruins it. And by terminals, do you mean the peices that are already connected to the sheet or what I attach. I bought a panel without pins or tabs on it so it that the issue?

Thanks :D

My latest sheets have that too. You need the wire tape, but not sure exactly if you solder that first.

Guess I got lucky, my el had some nice heavy terminals and I was able to solder the El to the tape.

I had no luck with wire glue. It wasn't nearly as strong as solder, and after it dried I could pull the joint apart with my hands. I didn't want to bury that in the sole of the shoe and have it come apart later after it's all sealed in.

I was able to get solder to work, but it is risky. Using flux paste *really* helps.
