At least the MAGs are still getting a mention, though these things are a poor resemblance in my eyes.

I was expecting (hoping) for a colourway.

I like the way it looks like an extension of the foot. I like the smooth line from the heel to the midsole. I like the clean toe. I like the height.

I do not like the laces or the way the collar just ends. It is like they didn't know how to finish off the top, so just left it cut off flat. That cuff is interesting, but not sure I'd go with black.

And they did again. WTF is it with running a flat lace through a round hole? It is a synthetic shoe. Surely they can mold small rectangles instead of circles to the run the flat laces through. If they ran them through slots, they sit flat and they lace faster. They got this right back in 1989, why can't they do it now?

What is interesting here is that the other day, I was wondering if it really mattered if the MAG heel cup needed the cutouts it has (basically it joined by a 4" strip at the back of the shoe) and it if were practical to have the top line of the heel cup blend in smoothly to the mid-sole to the whole part was like a foot frame to hold the upper. The sculpted heel cup probably can't be as high, but it seems that the idea is do-able from this design.

I always felt the 2011 Hyperdunks looked a bit more like the MAGs, with the heel cup and 'wing holes' or whatever. I liked em when they came out so got a couple, pity there weren't any grey available. Sure they could be taller. Maybe if the 2015 and 2011 models were blended somehow? I agree with you on the rectangular holes for laces though, but then again I wish we could just do away with laces altogether.
Even a 'hole puncher' (which you can get at the cheap shops for belt buckle holes) could be made in a rectangular shape instead of a circle and used to punch a rectangular hole for the laces to go through.
I'm half done gluing the clear sole onto the left MAG, slowly slowly..... feeling impatient to actually wear them again, haha.

The 2011s did come out in Grey with white swoosh. I almost bought a pair but didn't like the fact that they were basically plastic.

Funny you mention the Hyperdunks. Back in summer of 2011 those were exactly what I used for costuming as future Marty at Dragoncon. That was 2 weeks before the genuine real MAGs were announced (not that I could have bought a pair and worn those anyway).

I'm a size 12 so I couldn't wear my MarkPoons, and the Hyperdunks caught my eye in the store as being an excellent base shoe for my costume. Since they didn't come in grey, I bought a blue pair and after some painstaking paintwork and making some foam (styrene?) straps, I was pretty pleased with them *at the time.* Then 2 weeks later Nike made all of us feel like crap.

Those 2011 Hyperdunks still look pretty neat and better than these new things (or anything coming out of NIKE these days). It would have been neat of that white part (on Jedifyfe's pair) had a strap that went over the front of the shoe with a blue NIKE on it.

I found this cloth at Spotlight the other day. This probably the closest fabric I have seen to the MAG. This is a macro shot, so it may look too woven. I've also made it B&W because the only colour they had in stock was a baby poo yellow and we would want grey. I also found the fabric the original MAG replicas (the MP MAGs) were made from. As it turns out, the 'Lyrca' is actually a thin neoprene.

When I first decided to play with the GITD powders, I had made a pair of double thickness heel bubbles. Today I decided to replace the original flush part with this custom made part. My part also still has the rim to prevent it from slipping through the cutout. I intend to re-work this to be more rounded for when I make my new Heel Cups. The mold for the new NIKE MAG letters should be getting machined this week.

Because I didn't know that I could take the mix to 15% at the time, I made these with about 5% and added some blue pigment. They glow about the same as commercial GITD products which is no where near as bright as my own mix in the both the soles and strap.

They sell that cloth in grey at a local fabric store. I think Joanns Fabrics. Maybe I should pick some up just to have on hand.

Would that be in the stretch fabric section? Is there a name for it? I have some good athletic fabric that matches the MP's weave but is lighter like the RD. Havent been to Jo Ann's in about a year, maybe i'll stop by and grab a yard or two

I'm not 100% sure. It was in with other synthetics maybe?

I'll try and stop in there tomorrow and see if I can find it.

We don't have Joanns in Australia. Spotlight and Lindcraft are the two players here.

This has some give to it but is different to tee-shirt material.

I stopped by Joann's today. Skunked.

They didn't have the cloth anymore. The most similar thing they did have was knitted polyester fabrics, but the threads were thinner, the weave tighter because of it. And it was medium-dark grey.

If I could find the same thing in a color that matches the shoes, I'd probably go for it though. I don't really care much about matching the "chainmail" look of the RD shoe material.

Another option is the course weave speaker grill cloth (if you can find it in grey). The pattern is close to the RD. It is very elastic though, so you almost would have to use a spray adhesive to bond it to a substrate first.

Finally finished putting the new soles (with the GITD parts) on last night. :D

apologies for the grainy image, ipod doesnt like low light. The glow is actually more noticeable to the eye than the camera for some reason.
