Anybody try these??? Crimp connectors for EL tape

http://youtu.be/TXfaPQgdmNA

My theory is maybe we can use the cheaper panels that only have 1 connection, and crip new leads.. Making it cheaper.. Or even EL tape cut to shape and crimped.. Wasting less of the EL material

for tinting the clear section, you may have some luck going to a shop that sells model kits and the tiny paint jars for them. When I built my Star Trek Enterprise-E model, I was able to get some translucent blue for painting the inside of the clear warp nacelles so that it could be lit from within. (sorry, it's in storage now, no pics available) - you may have to thin it down quite a bit with turps or perhaps mix with a translucent white as well, but if you've got something you can test on, couldn't hurt to try. Are you painting the outside of the clear? That can cause whatever you're painting on to build up on some parts of the surface. If you paint the inside rather than the outside, the colour should come out more even-looking. But I stress testing this first on something that can flex (you can buy clear plastic sheets about the thickness of the clear sole and more from some rubber shops, though they have no pattern so they suck for soles - yes I've tried but not on MAGs) as I'm not sure of the flexibility of that type of paint. The only thing I ever used it for was a non-flexing part. But there may be a water-based option these days, which are generally more flexible once dry. Just a thought, there's no model kit shops near me to check and give this a test to fight the yellowing of my own clear soles, though I'd like to. When I have time I might go to central Melbourne which should have something I could use. Failing even THAT, maybe a small piece of light blue translucent Contact (a stick-on book covering) put on the inside of the clear might help. That's something I can go look for today.......

This is a great idea, I remember having that model paint years ago as well. I can only paint the outside as the its all sealed up with glue right now.

you can see its made a difference to the right shoe, maybe its just not the right colour dye.

Cool that dye does make a significant difference. I did find a sheet of something today to put behind the side panels (not what i was actually looking for, but oh well) I just have to heat up the side panel on mine to soften the glue to release it and try.

DragonGalvy use a wooden stick like a tongue depressor or even popsical stick rather than anything metal. Much easier to remove the rubber because it doesn't hold the heat, you can leave it in there as you reheat. Make sense?

I think you might be onto something here. Clear Blue (tint) contact might be perfect for this project especially when lit from inside.

im planning on getting v2s sometime this month can some remind me if they run a size big or not? i wear a 9.5 i got my hc mags in 10 and theyre a little big on me so if i want a 9.5 would an 8.5 come out to that?

Go a full size down. I'm usually a 12 and I got a pair of 11's and they're not even a fitted type of feel, they're slightly long. That's what she said. Well she didn't actually, that's something I made up on the spot.

I'd be getting US9.5s then. I think US8.5 is too small, especially after the toe mod.

cavx what would a 9.5 come out to like a 10? or a 10.5? would 8.5 come out to a size 9 beucase i wehre 9 too

UK sizes are one size larger so a UK 9 is the same size as a US10 and I think that these V2s are actually UK sized even though they are listed as US sized. When I buy genuine NIKE shoes, I normally buy US9.5 or US10 and it is a snug fit. The US9.5 MAGs are slightly loose on me out of the box. I added a thicker sock liner and after doing the tongue and toe mods, they are now snug because of the extra materials added inside the shoes.

hmm yeah everyone says the shoe gets snugger with the toe mod but i plan on doing another sock toe box and that actually opens up the shoe alot since theres no foam to hug your foot so i really dont have to worry about the shoe feeling tight since the sock toe box gives room to breath now you say a uk9 is a 10 so a uk8.5 would be a us9.5 then?

cavx ok yeah im sure itll be fine lol thanks im still not sure if im ready to drop the cash or not but im getting close aha

I usually wear US 9,5 too. At first I ordered 9,5 but they were too big. Then I ordered US 8,5 and it fit perfect, even after a small steam toe mod.
I you want to do the sock type mod you did on your HCs and cut the shoes, maybe you should get US9,5 or 10 to have some space.

Vormz my hcs are 10s and i still have like 2 inches of room with tho sock toe i think im going to go with an 8.5 so end up with a US9.5

@ glasses, I just don't want to see you over stretch the laces because you still need a certain size shoe to slip your foot into.

I usually wear 10's - the V2's I got in 9.5 felt about the same, and were way more comfortable after adding a good insole which was curved rather than the flat one they come with.

Your mods on V2s should really be awesome!
i hope so aha all the compliments i get from you guys on my hcs is realy whats pushing me to do a proper shoe also on a side not i know you upgraded your matty board back in February last year did you end up gluing the lenticular 3d face down or facing up i know that clock88s boards he glues it down so that the honeycombs indention is facing up i think you glued yours down facedown so that the indents are touching the board correct? ill be posting a quote with your pics in the hc hoverboard thread i dont want to be off topic here
