You might want to clip that ebay link. Can't link to live auctions.

Also, that doesn't seem to be too bad a price to me.

Yeah it did seem like an pretty good price. I might grab one just to check it out. See if it is the right color.
cavx that actually does look pretty cool! Really didn't think it would be that bright.

Maybe you need to check out my clear sole thread interest thread in the JY.

I mixed the GITD powder into some clear elastomer at the maximum 15%/Volume mix ratio, vacuumed all the bubbles out and then injected it into the soles. I had to drill two small holes in each to allow an even flow of the liquid in and air escape out as it filled.

I had thought about just squirting some powder in at first using a syringe, but I really wanted to see how good this stuff glows when mixed in. My shoes have become my "beta testers" of late.

So after everything had set up, I gave them a quick minute charge in the sun this morning and then too these snaps. I will take some proper shots soon.

The strap logos were a bit of a rush job and I will re-work these as they do have potential.
With and without the flash. Given this is bright enough for the standard phone camera settings to pic it up say a lot.

I am pretty happy with the results. They do have a slight more greenish colour (aqua or cyan) to the eye. They are plently bright without the hot spotting of the LEDs I had before.

You might consider getting yourself a Cree-LED flashlight. They can charge that GITD in about 5-10 seconds and save you waiting time.

When I'm ready to do my sole-lights, I'll probably consider that listing myself. If you do get one, let us know how the color goes.

Yeah even the camera flash on the phone charges these up pretty quick though you do have to run it over the GITD about 3 times.

This is interesting - same camera settings, way brighter environment.

Mine did the same thing. Photos and visually looks blue in the light, shifts to aqua the darker the area gets. You can see it on the page 8 photos in the HC topic.

That looks pretty damn good for glow in the dark tape.
Have you done a side by side with a small piece of el sheet compared with the glow in dark tape in the dark?
im curious to see how much difference in brightness there is.

I'd say glow in the dark tape is better than the blueish leds that come on the V2 and HC shoes. Accurate aqua colour and only need light to charge it, rather than battery.
They look great under the clear soles.

Thanks airair :)

i think there is some confusion about the top image. That GITD in the top pic was actually some green GITD powder (only about 5%) mixed into clear and then a blue pigment added to try and filter the green light and make it more bluish. I then poured a flat sheet and cut it into the shapes. I made small wedges of it to fit into the cutouts of the V2 soles. Apart from the lack of GITD in the mix, the fogged effect of the superglue fumes restricted the transmission of light into charge and out to shine.

When I did this new mix last night, I maxed out the volume to 15% and flooded the cavity which also seems to have reduced the visibility of the white from the super glue fumes because it is now a solid mass.

The only GITD tape I have been able to find here is green with cyan/aqua on line. I do want to test some though because it does have potential.

Cool! It sure does glow well! a GITD insert of powder mixed in the clear (of an approximate shape to the glowing segments in the RDs) would be an awesome addition for those of us who had their LED's die (i've been lucky enough to have that not happen yet but it's bound to one day with those electronics)

The real MAGs do not have air bags

Really? that is a bit slack of them. Back in 1989, the NIKE Air Pressure had its air sole as a part of the sock liner, not the mid sole and was removeable/replaceable. That and the speed lace system were two of the bedt things NIKE ever did on shoe IMO.

I owned some nikes years ago that had an air bubble in the insole rather than the midsole, i remember thinking it felt a bit weird. Can't remember what model they were, some runners. They've long since been destroyed from use. But generally the air is put in their performance models, and since the MAGs weren't meant to be actual sport playing shoes (plus whatever size battery is in the sole, maybe filling a large space) I guess it got left out as one extra feature that could go wrong on a model with already considerable technical issues to produce. Burst air bubbles are hella annoying.

The sole thickness of the Air Pressures were thin - maybe 10~15mm tops so I guess what they did that. They were great shoes.

With all the retros being done, I'd like to see them brought back, but they won't due to the way the laces didn't extend to the mid-sole and the side bulged as a result. The MAG was probably NIKE's first shoe to attempt to fix that issue. Then came webbing straps. Now of course, it is fly-wire in most of their modern designs.

Very happy to say I've finished the main mods for my pair, It was definitely hard work and I respect a lot what you guys have done even more now. Definitely not the cleanest job out there but for my first ever project of this kind I'm pretty happy.

Not finished with the mods though :) Now I want to try and tackle a few of the things about the actual V2s that could be better.....as in the uppers not being stiff enough, the tongue length and so on.

Thanks man. Yeah, the tongue is something that really gets on my nerves as it only needs a little more to make it the right length.

To anyone who has done cloth-cut toe-slimming.

The HC mags size US8. There is about half in inch of space between my toe and the toe-tip of the shoe.

Does that sound like enough space to do a cloth-trim slimming?

Should I consider a US9 which would be about a quarter-inch more space?

Also, will slimming the toe-box this way make it slimmer side-to-side? My foot is already snug side-to-side in the toe-box and I don't need the shoe made slimmer in that way.

And not made from the stretchy licra stuff they used. Leatheret or vinyl is much better.

Yes, doing a tongue mod is something I want to have time to do. So far I've only made tongue toppers out of paper to try and get the size right. Pity there's no material shop in my immediate area for leatherette/vinyl

Yes definitely, I'm probably going to get some this week to have a play around with. The tongues on your shoes look pretty bang on.

Thanks :) Yeah glad I had a go at that mod.
