Since I'm making new straps for my HC Mags I decided to mess around with the straps it brings.

I used a blue-ish with this NIKE decal. It matches the blue LED lights nicely but it doesn't glow.

With this decal I used GITD tape. It has a real nice green glow but i don't like the way it looks with the blue LEDs of the Mags.

On the CIE chart, the desired colour for the MAGs lighting system is CYAN. Even though we tend to call it AQUA, CYAN is the colour of light that is made from equal parts of GREEN and BLUE. You can play in Paint where a custom mix of R @ 0, G @ 255 and B @ 255 = a really nice colour called CYAN.

You might be able to add a green filter in front of the blue LED to make it closer to the desired colour. The issue is of course that these lights in the Chinese MAGs are not great and they will fail sooner or later and if you are going to the trouble of adding a filter, you might as well change out the lights for EL sheet, or use the same GITD tape to fake the EL.

The colour of the GITD looks good. We only seem to have GREEN here in AU. Thought I did manage order 1KG (2.2 pounds) of CYAN mix in GITD powder for my clear soles project.

hi cavx,

nope, my kit does not come with the white rubber heel cup :)

So if not your kit, whose was that? The kit I am referring to used a 3V coin battery, small switch, small round 3V inverter and came with a NIKE logo and small piece of EL. The electronics were mounted in what looked like a flat version of the Ankle Buckle.

They made a foam ankle buckle to demonstrate how the kit works i believe

So who are "they"? And did "they" mod a V2 Ankle Buckle or make scratch part?

I am about to make a new part myself that will hold the inverter and I am aiming for it to hold a 9V if possible.

Here is my first sample strap for the HC Mag. The NIKE does not glow but I think the color looks good with the blue LEDs the shoe brings.

You know what, I think the glow in dark tape is a great alternative, especially if not wanting to mess with cables and all stuff.
Definitely would help save on battery power!
You should do a side by side with an EL logo lit up with the glow in dark, and see what the difference is in overall brightness. I don't think it will be that much, the only difference will be the EL logo will be brighter from a much further distance.

One thing I've noticed is that either I'm using the wrong glue or I didn't spray enough. It's been slightly separating in certain spots especially around the NIKE decal. Any tips?

This is the kit I was talking about. Is this MPs or someone elses?

I think I can clear up the confusion.

That kit in your picture seems to be the Markpoon kit, it is the DIY kit he sells here in the classifieds..right? He also sells it on ebay for about what it sells for here, IIRC.

The kit FreddyTV showed a picture of is another ebay kit that goes for $200 from a seller name omar-something. It is a "ready-to-go" kit, almost no work. It's not Markpoon's kit installed already.

It is possible that Markpoon assumed your compliment of the well-done logo was for one of his kits, since they are the only ones that got talked about to this point.

Hi Everybody

Today I was going to bring my V2 Mags to work to wear them indoors for the first work day of 2015.

Unfortunately when I went to go plug them in, I found that both USB connectors that go inside the shoes to the battery have fallen off because the wires broke off wherever they are connected to. Perhaps from me wearing them (which has been only twice since 2012 when I got them). I'll need to open up the shoes somehow to reattach them.

Any pics or info on where I would get started would be greatly appreciated as I have no idea of what the inside of the shoe looks like and don't want to wreck them, or take apart anymore than I have to. Thanks!

The crappy wires broke after just two wears?...that's so strange...sorry, I don't know what to say.

This whole thread is full of modded MAGs - pics links to videos etc. Forget about trying to repair the cheap nasty factory wires, they will only break again.

When I re-wired mine, I used a plastic chop stick to feed/pull the wire from the heel out of the sewn charge port.
