Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

I figured the 3v setup would work. I am curious how long the PS3 controller battery will last with this!

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

wow great mod Jedilyfe, would you be selling these all modded by you in the future? :p

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Great! can't wait i will def be picking up a mod from you then :p

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

They look so lovely in natural light. Most of our pics have been on tables with knives and wires all over the show haha!

This..

I'm not sure but I don't think he's going to do mods for other people's shoes. He's just selling one completed pair from the pictures he's been showing. If I'm wrong and he will offer a service, he'll have customers lined up around the block! :)

You want the 99.9% rd mags? Use cloneprops buckle and heel cup and have brad do his mods even the true hard core mag fan will have a hard time telling the difference. As is though they are mind blowing from where they were to where they are. Truly amazing work JediFyfe

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Which is which? Haha, sorry about the white box

One thing I never liked about the gen shoes is that the strap sticks out so much in front of the tongue. They look like cantilevered balconies, especially in that photo.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

From the ankle strap down, Jedifyfe's MAG conversion [bottom pic] is so close, the only faults I can find [which is not correctable without re-building the shoe) is the rubber at the toe is not as high as the RD MAG. Big deal :cool

Above the strap is the finger pull holes which are stitched and the cuff which is also sewn to the collar, not glued. These are small details and probably not going to worry anyone wearing them. I seriously doubt too many would even know that anyway.

I'll suggest that the hook and loop added on the V2 helps with that issue. The RD does not have this and probably should.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Brad I tried ironing the lace area but had no luck :confused

Did you use a iron that you would use to iron clothes with?

i'm pretty sure he said a normal iron. Do you think it has to be done on very high settings? Maybe jedififye can clarify. Or maybe it needs to be a very thin towel.

PS, did you open your shoes underneath the sole inserts like Jedifyfe?

i'm not sure how to open that bit since there is a white stitch bonded sheet there over the brownish card thing, like jedifiyfe opened up.

if any of you guys have some more pics of the inside bit where the battery lays, that will be great

and if anyone has any links to 9v inverters and 3v inverters also, that will be great

thanks

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Don is right though wire the LEDs in series as I have always done and use 1x100ohm resistor. Only thing I need to sort now is the switch as the inverter switch is interrupting the switch I have made up.

The LEDs do not lose brightness as I tested with and without inverter and panel.

Wire them up like this... if your using 9V. The resistor is only there for protection, you can run each block straight off 9V.

Ground - + - + - + - + 10 ohm 9V RED LEDS

Ground - + - + - + - + 10 ohm 9V ORANGE/AMBER LEDS

Ground - + - + - + - + 10 ohm 9V GREEN LEDS

Its better that way as each "block" has its own resistor and if one LED were to fail just that block/bank of LEDS would fail. That value might depend on the type/rating of the LEDS you use. I knocked something up here and it pulls 70ma with the above setup. Doing them in parallel the current draw jumps to around 200ma.

IMO 100 ohm is just a tad too much. The current draw will be low but the leds won't be "that" bright.

It all depends what the forward voltage of the LEDs are. If it were me I would just play around with different value resistors but then I do have all of this to choose from...
