Even if it does begin to crack or peel, black paint on black rubber is not going to be as obvious lighter grey paint on a darker grey rubber.

You're right.

The issue I have (probably an impossible one to fix!), is that i'm building up the front toe on the grey soles.
The problem is that some of the texture of the grey soles is covered up where the glue has covered the tip.
So ideally, I'm trying to work out a way to paint over the soles whilst also adding some new texture so everything blends in!

Its probably not doable, but without increasing the size of the soles front lip, the overall look of the shoe is kind of lessened, especially with a new set of more accurate uppers.

Painted using the Angelus Paints via airbrush.

They look awesome I have to say. A million times better than that gold speckled look!

And they are unique, one off pair!

They will look awesome with the Nike Footwear bag.

Are you building up the inner arch part as well? The V1s had it right, so I struggling to understand how they got it so wrong for the V2s.

im just doing the front toe area first to see what it looks like.

Do you have to get another rubber mat for the waffle pattern?
what the hell is that type of pattern called when searching for it?

thanks

I am going to cheat here and use a negative of the pyramid mat for the sides. I did this on my clear V1 soles and it looks OK. I would have liked to use the pattern on the V2 sole, but I can't use my own pair as I have modded them already and I would need the flat shape first.

It must have a proper name.

Hi guys. Do the sizes run too big with these or too small? I've got a mate wanting a pair and can't quite remember. he's usually a size 10, so I said he would need size 11 US but I remember someone saying they need to be dropped two sizes.

Do they need 10.5 US?

If he normally wears a US10, then he is best to get a US9.5 (they don't make a US9) and put an insert (one of those after market sock-liners) into the shoe. the thing to also remember is that when he mods the toe, he will lose a bit of space as well.

He normally wears UK 9 but gets 9.5 UK if they are available.

UK sizes are one size larger than US sizes, so if he normally wears a UK9, it is the same as the US10 than he wants the US9.5 in these MAGs. They don't make a US9 for what ever reason. It is almost like the Chinese use the UK sizes for their shoes but list them as US sizes. I just got a pair of black boots for a SW costume and they are listed as US9.5 but swim on me.

MAG sizes start at US8, US8.5 then jump to US9.5, US10, US10.5, US11 and US12.

Cheers mate!

If the type of paint that Jedifyfe used on his Footwear MAGs turns out to be the best option then we would have to pick the lightest grey and mix it with some white. Even their lightest grey is too dark.

After seeing Jedifyfe's up close at the WonderCon meet-up, I impulse bought a pair from fellow RPF member Pitbull.

Looks like I've got some reading to do!

Not really. If you're serious about modding them then you just need to buy the items on page 58 and look at the diagrams on pages 60 and 79. If you have any detailed questions you can PM me. And if i can't answer the question im sure I know who does. I've been reading and contributing since the beginning of the thread.

While I appreciate the gesture, I'm the type that likes to know all the mistakes and breakthroughs that have been made up to the point I got involved with something rather than just standing on the shoulders of geniuses to accomplish something as fast as I can. Even if it's tedium, there may be something in it I can learn from to use on something else down the road.

As a "scrap yard" fabricator I'm pretty savvy, so there's always a chance that I may come up with a way to do things no one else has thought of before. While I can't say for sure that will happen...if I don't at least try I can guarantee it won't. :D

Plus, I've never been good at following directions.
