If you make the clear soles on order people would just have to measure the height and width of the sole parts from their shoes and tell you the measurements. You could then sell the sheets to maximize usage and minimize waste.

At this stage I am aiming to make a cast 3D part that is one piece.

First test wear tonight and the mod held up :)

Great work. I'm thinking of doing something similar, but its a bit difficult finding UV stable liquid casting materials.

I've looked at a few different rubber casting liquids and i'm still enquiring about which ones are suitable for the grey midsoles and which ones for the clear soles.

I'm probably going to cast an entire grey midsole and the sides of the clear soles sometime.

I asked Cloneprops for some info, but that was like the equivalent of communicating with a dead rat, no replies whatsoever.

Meanwhile, I just finished my final template for the grey uppers, almost dead on now, and more accurate than any V2, cloneprops (incorrect in many areas) or any other version out there aside from the originals.

I'll hopefully post some pictures up when i've finished spraying the midsoles and heel cup.

That stuff I used last time is UV stabalized, just not cheap to buy.

The elastomer range I used offers both clear and solid (both can have a dye added) and come in different shore hardness, so you can have the mid sole made from a much softer material than the outer sole.

Look forward to seeing that.

Or that lol.

Stay tuned :)

Hey man yeah, I actually unstitched the finger holes so i can put something/foam inside to at least make the 'wings' more rigid. Also made a 'draft' of a smaller swoosh because the v2 swoosh shape really bugs me. My plans are really at least to make the vamp come in the sole lower since i noticed that the vamp to quarter(sidewalls) of the v2 tend to go straight and high. Thanks! :)

Heres a pic of the swoosh, it kinda has a grainy texture feel to it though. Might need to find a smoother type of leather.

very nice work. what spray you use for repainting the midsole? and did you use enamel or acrylic for repainting the nike mag lettering?
thanks

How do you guys mask up the shoe for spraying? Or do you brush it on?

I repainted a pair of silver v1's with a brush on cloth paint, it was sort of okay but had to do a few thin coats to try and avoid seeing any brush strokes. If you wanted to spray it on, there used to be a 'no-residue' paper tape which painters use that can be easily removed up to a few days after spraying. It might still exist at paint stores like Solver. But remember to ask for the no-residue' version, as normal paper tape for painting can't be left on a surface for too long without leaving residue. I think the one to look for is 'Bear' brand. Good luck! There's no Solver paints in my local area, but I know there's a bunch in Brisbane as I used to work in different stores fixing their PCs.

Ok thanks. Think I will do these clear soles first, then worry about the colour of the mid sole.

I'm having a strange reaction when I plug my charger into my shoes. It won't charge and I'm thinking it's because the everything after the charge port is stick connected (el, inverter, LEDs).

I currently have a female plug going to red and black of the 9V prior to it going to the inverter. Is there suppose to be something In between the inverter and the female charge plug?

I hate to have to remove the 9v batteries to get them to charge directly on the hub.

Ok so I've decided to do the strap mod after watching Jedi's video. I don't plan to put EL in there though, I just wanna make it look clear like the shoe without lights off since I'm never gonna do the EL in the soles to match it anyway. Couple questions though!

1. What kind of paper do you print the Nike logo on and how?
2. Does anybody have the template for the Nike logo they'd be willing to share? :)

The NIKE template has been posted several times now (go back up to 10 pages) but for some reason the version I have is way too big and needs scaling down to almost 25% which gives it the jaggies. Many have printed this on clear plastic and use the EL sheet to provide the colour fill - cyan when light and white when not lit.

can a laser home printer print on to clear plastic?

Yeah I think that is what guys like jedifyfe have done. When I made my last set, I used a photo copier onto a clear printable sheet.

My next mod will be lighting my straps too. I'd like them ready for GoldNova on the 5th of April.

I know someone posted an image of the factory sole LEDs but I don't think I saved the image. If anyone has this saved could you please post it.

My shoes broke tonight in a good way and this might be useful for the next mod. It seems that I can get the new wires into the shoe via that stitched opening where the factory charge port and switch come out.

Another mod idea that I have been thinking about for a while and decided to do today. Given there has been success with the 3V power source and because I wanted the batteries to be more accessible than in the sole (for a quick change out when they go flat), this is what I did.

This mod involved cutting a rectangle of rubber out of the back of the factory ankle buckle large enough to insert a double AAA battery holder and I then used the 3D printed parts (thanks cloneprops :) ) which I had to mod as well as a cover for the whole thing. I'll probably just take the lazy LED route for now. The 3D part arrived as "polished" and it is now hot glued to the factory rubber part.

Rather than rip the strap apart, I intend to use the velcro on the sides of the shoe to help hide the wires.
