Lookin' good with the tongue DJ , been wanting to do something like that to the grey ones of mine actually but haven't had time. Is it a whole new tongue? Like maybe made out of that wetsuit neoprene stretchy material?
What's the trick for sewing the border? Lotsa time, or just skill? lol

Nicely done Brad. You mentioned that you send those off to have them professional painted? Just curious where or who do you send them to?

what at did you use to split the moons here? Paint or?

Just use any grey electrical tape or grey sticky vinyl sheet.
Just cut it out and stick ontop.

Nice.

Have you totally cut and removed the existing tongue?

The existing tongue fabric is glued on both the left and side of the shoes about halfway done where the laces are.

My new tongues , and strap , looking good esp with the toe mod still got the electronics to do , ImageUploadedByTapatalk1394798328.462625.jpg

Is it just me or did you invert the seams on your finger pulls on the left shoe?

Seriously loving your build! I'd love to see your methods since it's clear you're taking your own approach here.

Keep eps up the awesome work.

LOVING some of the latest mods being done :)

just thought id share something ive come across from my rare sneaker collecting connections,,, dont know if anyone has seen or tried it before but Fabes Sole sauce seems to be getting alot of love when it comes to restoring the "icy" soles,... id imagine its possibly similar to the "sea-glow" product im pretty sure ive heard people talk about?.... the demos and results ive seen are really impressive!,..

heres the links and a pic of what it does

Looks like a good thing - my V2s could definitely use it, and my old Jordan 6's it too, but sorry bud, that stuff won't ship to Australia (at least not from their home site). Hate that kinda thing. Might look for an OZ source later. Tried another product previously which you have to mix yourself, but it didn't work that well.

I don't know. Look at the blueish pattern underneath the icy soles. On the left shoe the blue is way lighter. You can't lighten that color up with any stuff you put on the icy sole.

On the right shoe, the darker blue is also visible underneath the yellowed soles.

To me it looks like the left shoe has never seen daylight before...

The only way to get clear or icy blue soles that won't turn yellow is to cast a new UV stabilized pair from clear elastomer. If the soles are yellowing on the outer surface from exposure to UV, then the whole cross section is turning so a surface treatment won't work.

Hey man yeah, I actually unstitched the finger holes so i can put something/foam inside to at least make the 'wings' more rigid. Also made a 'draft' of a smaller swoosh because the v2 swoosh shape really bugs me. My plans are really at least to make the vamp come in the sole lower since i noticed that the vamp to quarter(sidewalls) of the v2 tend to go straight and high. Thanks! :)

Heres a pic of the swoosh, it kinda has a grainy texture feel to it though. Might need to find a smoother type of leather.

Optiprimo, is there anything inside the area you unstitched? I dont suppose the outer stitching of the whole grey material could be pulled up and over a little and glued over a foam shape inside, thats the way the RDs look, or something similar I guess. Good idea though! Lookin' nice.

I had a bit of a further look into the whole "sole sauce" idea and was trying to find out what the chemicals used were etc....... turns out its basically Hydrogen Peroxide with some heat/UV to cure/bake the process!!!!...... so basically its bleaching the oxidised sole i think?....

found a video online of a guy doing this with reasonable success using womens hair salon hydrogen peroxide cream.... which retails at less than $10 for a big bottle!!! much better prices than the specific "sole sauce" brands....

the process seems to be the same for every type of this i have seen aswell..... cover up areas you dont want to touch..... brush on the "sauce" to the yellowed soles/plastic/rubber then cling film wrap over,... put in the sun for 4-6 hours and put an ice pack inside the shoe to keep the temp down... then rinse off...

im thinking of trying this on my old pair of 180's to see what happens before i possibly pull them apart to "mag" them too! :)

Thanks DragonGalvy What i did was unstitched the velcro and then cut the fabric(where the line is on the outside area) with an exacto knife and put eva foam in it. I'm not sure if it's the best method(it is a bit risky) but I hope when I when glue it back together it would 'bulge' and have a sort of stiffness to it like the RD mags. On the cut i made, i might find a suitable fabric to cover the area up with that. Knowing the area would be unseen when the straps are put on, i wouldn't mind that. Oh, and I painted the foam grey so that it wouldn't be that obvious when you look at it. Cheers :)

I really like the clean look here.

Thanks cavx, I like it a lot too. I couldn't see or notice the paint splatter in the movie so this is what I thought it looked like the whole time. haha
I actually messed up painting the splatter and had to clean this up again. :/
I think that a single haired brush was used to paint the details. I tried using a toothbrush, cut all the bristles and left just one, I'm actually testing it out on paper as of the moment. It's hard to replicate the very fine details but it's a great experience with all the trial and error.

So true. The clear rubber does not only yellow on the surface. It isn't oxidation, it is a reaction to UV light that changes the color of the clear rubber to the core. You can make the yellowed surface lighter by bleaching it, but you will always see the yellowed material underneath.

Looking at my shoes again and I want to attempt a small cut (the length of the lights) underneath the sole along that line that runs along the outer edge. I want to see if it is possible to add something inside there to bring the base of the sole out a bit - say 1/4". This should give a more closer representation of the "outrigger" soles on both the movie prop and the 2011 MAG and if this works, will make these shoes look very cool.

If it works, I do intend to take a cast but before I do, I will also add pyramid mat to the base.
