The member who45 used to sell them but I don't think he does anymore. I think he charge like $150-$200 for the straps.

I think he sold them with just EL connection ends on them (no dollhouse wire tape used).

PS Jedifyfe,
could you possibly post up a picture of your RD shoes side on touching toe to toe with the v2 one?
I'm trying to see how much bigger the grey toe area is in comparison

thanks

thats perfect.

how many mm do you think the front grey toe part is compared with the originals?
it looks like a few mm, not much.

I'm looking to respray a pair's midsoles, just not sure what paint is best.

Yes. air air is correct. You want to look for Cuttable EL with Tabs. The EL sheets with pins are specifically for using the pin terminals and can't use the other tabs. Usually they have a laminated back. Look for Unlaminated sheets.

It looks like your el sheet is only usable where the metal pins are.
If you want you can test whether the rest of the connection points are usable by using a battery and inverter and just touching the black areas with the positive and negative wires.

If you have a coin cell inverter you can test using that.

You might also want to check if the black side is peelable or removable.

I have el sheets similar to the one you have, but mine have 4 connection points but nothing else is usable as the back of it is covered with a protective layer and there are no other positive and negative points like on your el sheet.

It looks like yours maybe usable if the black covering can be removed.

The other ones I have got from ebay have had 4 connection points and many other positive and negative points which can be used as they have no protective layer on the back.

These are more floppy than the other ones I have which have the protective layer on the back.

Thanks a lot! I know what I have to do now!
I will upload some photos when my strap will be done.
Have a good day guys :thumbsup :cool

I think I have found a very secure way of attaching the wire tape to the EL panel without using solder or wire glue.

First cut small slits in the EL panel where the wire tape will slide through:

Next, cut the wire tape to fit into the slots and feed it through. Make sure there is enough to go very far through the slots and wrap over onto the other side.

Using a VERY SMALL amount of super glue or Loctite, glue the EDGES ONLY of the wire tape to the EL panel.

Cover this with black electrical tape and press down making sure everything is secure:

Wrap the electrical tape over to the front side and over the NIKE sticker you placed there:

Trim the excess tape off and light it up.

I have found that the tape can NOT come detached from the EL panel. It is VERY secure.

Happy holidays everyone. Great new method on the EL Strap Jedifyfe.

The weather here in the UK is terrible, super fast winds! Be careful!

OK guys here is an update on auto lace project. I know I said I was going to wait till January but had a little free time so I did this. I fabricated an enclosure for the mechanics fitted a servo, battery, and board for fit and feel. Test shoes are too small for me but when put back together I had my daughter put her foot in and she could not feel anything under her foot so .... so far so good. IMAG0069.jpg
