Don't use it. It only works on white coloured items.

A few reviews have said that it damaged fabric in dark shades

Has anyone tried retrobrite? Its an alternative to sea glow that supposedly clears up soles and mid soles. I plan on giving it a shot here soon, will post my results then.

hey guys I saw cavx's post about the yellowing of the midsoles and thought I'd investigate.
So, dug out the box where I stored my 2nd pair of V2's and..... IMG_3245.JPG
On the left is the one that stayed in the box (bought 2 at the same time, saved the one with the better splatter)
I have washed the pair I wear a few times with detergent and water (scrubbing dirt etc out of the sole, mostly, so it's not all through the house) - maybe that has caused the reaction? Or just exposure to light, maybe.
Apologies for the blurriness of the photo, since the difference in colour is more pronounced when you don't use the flash, and that means I have to try and hold the camera still for longer.

The colour of the midsoles on my shoes that were taken with no flash are tinted yellow due to the colour of the light. They are nice and grey with a white light - ie a camera flash. Right now my MAGs happily reside in the very light controlled environment of my home cinema, so no issues with UV in there.

Decided to try out the retrobrite. The one on the right was treated. This is the result after one 1 hr session. Will continue sessions throughout the weekend. Gotta be careful around the splatter as it removes it :/

thanks for the heads up about the splatter removal. I guess on the undersole of the ones that you want to wear would be okay, since it would wear off with use anyway. i was hoping it de-yellowed the coloured rubbber of the ones i wear out, but don't want to lose the splatter!

Did you just wash the clear soles with detergent
Or did you wash both the clear soles and midsoles?

Or is it simply that the grey midsoles will go yellow quite quickly when worn in hot weather?

If anyone has ideas on what type of paint could be used to repaint
the midsoles let me know.

I may have a go at it. I'm sure it would be durable so long as the paint sticks to the rubber midsoles.

As for washing them, I just squirt a bit of detergent on the sole somewhere and scrub them with an oversized toenail scrubber partially under a running tap. I keep my shoe collection clean that way and haven't noticed any others going yellow so quickly. Even the v1s, which I've had for longer.
As for paint - to repaint the grey, we'd all need some super-flexible thing, as normal oil or acrylic paint tends to crinkle and flake off from moving parts.
Love to know what the product is that Nike use to paint the red and purple on the Jordan 7s, it holds up forever.
I've circled the painted-on part that I mean. It's almost like it got painted on with liquid rubber......

Such paints do exist but they are limited in colour range and the grey is too dark.

I'd almost suggest that pink is actually rubber inlayed kind of how cloneprops did the aqua MAG in his Heel Cups.
