@jhk1976 everyone will have a different opinion on what soldering iron to get. I suggest to go to your local electronics store and tell them your new to soldering and what your requirements will be and they can guide you from there. Ill throw my opinion in and recommend a soldering station with variable power and an armature with magnifying lens
@Greeky04 Gotcha. Thanks for all the advice! I'll go ahead and get the gear I need. By the time I have it, perhaps some folks here will have already put theirs together and I'll have some examples to follow.
Also, something just occurred to me. My lights both have the contact on the right side. If one of these is for the left shoe, and one is for the right, shouldn't they be on opposite sides? Is everyone's kit this way?

hi jhk1976,
everyone's EL contact is on the right side![]()
[emoji106]Hmm. I was planning on using the Jedifyfe video tutorial on how to take apart the strap for this. In his video, he takes it apart starting at the cuff end, moving towards the existing Nike logo that comes on the V2 strap. If both contacts are on the right, wouldn't this only work for one of the two shoes? Wouldn't the contact need to be reversed for the other shoe since the strap is reversed? The mod he shows in the video has the wiring running to the left of the face of the Nike EL.

hi jhk1976,
you can run the wires behind the EL towards to left side![]()
Can we just take apart the stock strap on the V2's and put your EL panel in there? Or will we need to make our own strap
Hey jhk1976You can heat the back up with a blow dryer and peel the wire tape (two copper lengths) and then reapply them the opposite way or you solder the wires like the other strap and just place them behind the logoI personally used new wire tape because I had some
