shoebagsonsale wanted $149, plus $30 to ship. My initial order with pickgoodshoes was $129 shipped, until they pulled their "switcheroo"
Well, hopefully Melis emails me the new website address soon so I have peace of mind but i'll be annoyed if I lose all that money.
I still don't know if some were shipped out or they meant that they WILL be shipped out. I was excited but now I don't know what's going on.

Yep. This it totally wrong.
My question is is the Pickgoodshoes fiasco responsible for the added attention that closed the Chinashopsell site? Seems like a bit of a coincidence.
Y'know, and we're all to blame for this, our enthusiasm for this shoe and the numbers of requests/emails sent to these companies probably lead to this situation. I think we really should have played it cooler in the beginning.

Not true.
It's because they were using website-hosting from a country other than China.
For example; If you're from China, but you purchase hosting on a server located in the US, your hosting abides by US law.
This means if you're doing anything malicious or against US law, the US government has the right to assist in a takedown of your site.
They can't arrest you as they can't get to you, but they can shut down the site and put up a generic message.
Also, it's not so much that they're above the law. It's that US law does not apply to China, only the US.

For sure. We are all responsible for this and I think I've already mentioned this.
These shoes are almost 25 years old. How many other shoes in the world that are approaching 25 years old still get discussed and dissected as much as this shoe? I would say NONE! Why? Because in general, anything older than 6 months is now "out of fashion" and no one cares about it. Yet the MAG is as popular today among the fans (both sneaker heads and BTTF fans) as it was when we all got wow'd by the SFX back in 1989.
Just because the Chinese don't speak English very well does not mean they are dumb. They probably are translating this very thread as it grows. So yeah, what they know is that the western world want these shoes. The annoying part is that now they think they can milk this cash cow for way more than it is worth.

I sent them an Email blasting them about how they did the switch. I also stated I was taking my business elsewhere and already ordered another pair. They said "we will issue you a refund" That was their entire answer...I'll be checking my CC from time to time in the next few days to see what happens.

Totally see it. That makes me sad. It looks like lots of people are pissed at the price hike. Give it time, they'll come back down.
Has anyone heard anything at ALL from LebronJames10? My account on the site shows my order as "approved" but I haven't heard anything else. I'm just hoping they don't try to hike the price on me since I got in when they were still $90.

yeah but don't underestimate the sites, they who get shut down have backup domain names
if any are worried, its too early to panic for a site that suddenly "goes under", try email contact or )maybe) search where they've relocated on google/youtube
