Thanks. No elastic involved here. These straps are made from the same mesh as the rest of the shoe and side between channels I made. I wish I had designed this part differently now (I've drawn it up for future reference) as it will be pulled tight over my foot when done up.

I got a refund. I'll look at the shoes once they are released to see if I will purchase a pair. With all these delays and fixes... I'm having doubts on the quality.
We have no evidence that there have been ANY delays nor any proof that they are making any fixes.
Any mention of those things has come from the resale outlets who don't have any more information than we do.
We were NEVER given a date from the factory, and the resellers most likely just said "a couple weeks" as a best guess.
For all we know these are still right on schedule.
Seriously, the last 4 pages are all just people saying "Why are they delaying further, there must be problems," and the next post saying, "OMG! There are problems?!" It's a vicious cycle. As I said about 20 pages ago, let's all just breathe. We have no information now, so let's just leave it there.

im trying to see what elastic they've used.
whats the best elastic to get from the fabric shop? does it have a specific name or type? and whats the size of the laces?
12mm or bigger?

I want to make this pair not only as a workable FX prop, but fully wearable if I can. I also want to keep it as light as possible as well - it is upto about 55grams now, so very light. The challenge is making this up as I go and not making any of the same mistakes I made last time on my leather pair.
I'm using scraps I had laying arounnd, so this project so far has been a $0.00 outlay. And I don't want to spend any money at this R&D stage either if I don't have to. I will have to when it comes to the soles etc, but it would be sweet if I sort the complete upper including this lacing system before I do. I have 2 other pairs sitting here as well which are earlier revisions of the patterns, so might have to recycle those to finish this pair off.
Once all the parts are done and drawn up and this prototype is working, I will then buy the proper grey mesh and colour coded thread.

It is a challenge finding good quality elastic and why I went with just 3 straps on my leather pair. All the thin stuff was not very strong and I wanted something that felt tight and think and why I went with a 16mm width.
The four straps on my mesh pair are 12.7mm (1/2") wide each with an 8mm gap between them. That is for my size which is US10. You would probably just space the straps out a bit more for a US11.
What you want is called "bra elastic". It is finished off so it doesn't look cheap and rugged. The elastic you guys are using is just lining elastic from a local fabric store.

OK cool. Yeah the stuff in a fabric store looks cheap and nasty at times, especially the thin stuff.

Really struggling to get this type of elastic in black without the kinky satin finish crap, it's really annoying me as I need this to be as "matte" as possible
This is what I found in asda/Wal-mart of all places.. It's not really exact of near it but its not a shiny finish. Really tempted to just dye the white elastic I have but don't think it will be that simple

yes, so far, all the plain lining elastic ive seen in the shops, doesn't look right, so the bra elastic is much better.
lol, i hope they don't give me any funny looks when i go in the shop and ask for some bra elastic!:confused
