NIKE MAG Knockoffs

I know what I'll be ordering for my birthday. Those are amazing for knock offs, and for the money too. I've seen hyperdunks for more money than that. :love

Well do you think there will bee further versions with improvements in the future. I think there are different qualities in other models such as jordans and jeezys

I doubt it. I think the manufacturer will see how much of a hit they are that they wouldn't want to spend the time and money on making a new version. Maybe another company might, but that doesn't seam likely at all.

I dug deep into my reference photos from various online auctions, and found one image where the RD Mags (Real Deal Mags...can you tell I'm big on abbreviations?) are shown from nearly the same angle and a similar focal length to the one side view we have of the v2's to better compare the two (Just look through the thumb pulls to see how similarly aligned the two angles are ;) ) :

Things to take away from this:

-The soles are too thick. (Though without knowing the size of either it's hard to be sure of how much thicker it is.
-The shoes might actually be close to the right height, (I still think they're short) but the main body of the uppers is too thick making them appear shorter than they are. The RD Mags have sort of a graceful swoop to them.
-Look at the colors of the LEDs...I think we may be able to get away without mods there ;)

Feel free to post your own observations.

And it's weird that they didn't center the letters on the heel cup. Could this possibly just be a defective pair?

Question for those with Real Deal Mags:

When you wear your shoes, where does your big toe actually fall in the shoe? (Pictures would help here if you could)

I'm starting to feel like the soles of the various K-Mags are just too short, front to back, leading them to appear squatter.

I think too thick. The mid-sole on the real MAG appears to be about 1/2" high where it is at least 3/4" on the K-MAGs [V1 and V2]. This was something you made comment on when you did your tear down on the V1s. I didn't really think it was an issue until I did my scratch build.

SO now I am curious to know about the packaging.

I'm not sure if this is true, but I think I read somewhere on here that they would come in a box that is supposed to look like the RD Mag box. If that's true, I doubt they would come in the foam shaped to the shoes.

Well, just so everyone can judge for themselves, here is a roughly 1" grid placed over both shoes. So feel free to use this to dissect at will.

And you know what, based on that they actually appear fairly close in height, the only major difference seems to be the curvature of the toe. As you can see when I roughly modify (Some other things got warped too, but not too severely) the toe curvature to better match the RD Mags, the look is incredibly close:

...Looks like I'm going to have to experiment with heat warping the soles. I never realized how critical a minimal toe curve was to the look. My mind is blown. If we can fix that toe curvature and the toe, this this will be able to pass for RD Mags to everyone but the biggest nerds.

So who wants to buy me a drink for my discovery? :love

I dont think that actual soles are short. Thats not the problem.

Its all to do with the way the uppers line up with the edge of the back of the sole.

I've looked at the original mags in numerous pictures and the heel cup is sticking out, and the actual back of the uppers is sticking out over the edge of the soles.

It was the same problem with the version 1 knockoffs, and this second version also.

the uppers need to be pushed back very slightly. Most people don't even notice it, but its what allows the shoe to have the long slender neck and flat toe without looking too thick.

I've made a foam template for my version 1 knockoffs which is almost dead on to the original mags, and it sticks out at the back slightly further from the top and heel.

I'll post it up shortly.

I'd have to say about 80%

Sorry for the rough as guts image guys, but these are looking heaps better than the V1s :love

textile not accurate, seams in upper triangle holes, white part not exact fail in proportions/surface, point charged in white piece is inexistent,
backheel sticked to sole and too thin, its simmetrical(original mags is not simmetrical)and bad logo, blue splatter proportions too big, sligh bump inacuratte, soles too high, toe high, uppper white leather innacurate, bad proportions in height, using led lights instead EL, inexistence of EL in nike logo, bad leds color and position and bubble, transparent soles does not match to the blue transparent color,if you look at back of the shoe is totally innacurate that proportions.....I can still found MORE fails.....

Honestly 80% accurate is to be more optimistic with that shoe, I´m not agree.

The bent sole and toe are not bugging me right now. What does is that bloody stitching around the finger pull hole.

Nick can you please re-post this image with the V2 MAG facing the same way as the RD MAG?

Of course:

I lined up some of the reference lines to make certain areas easier to measure. The soles in both of these come out to roughly 11.5" long and about 1" tall near the toe. Which lends credence to the toe curve theory. I mean the RD Mag soles are just SO flat.

The white ankle piece also isn't connected to the shoe. Is it better to connect it or leave it as is?
