NIKE MAG Knockoffs

textile not accurate

I am hoping someone with the RD MAG will buy a pair of these V2 MAGs and answer that for us. It might to dark. The photos we have right now don't really tell us the truth due to not being taken at the same time, different lighting conditions etc.

seams in upper triangle holes
Agreed! And this part is really annoying me right now.

white part not exact fail in proportions/surface, point charged in white piece is inexistent

It is 400% over the V1 Ankle Buckle. Didn't someone think there is a charge port at the top?

backheel sticked to sole and too thin, its simmetrical(original mags is not simmetrical)and bad logo, blue splatter proportions too big, sligh bump inacuratte, soles too high, toe high,

Again agreed. The back of the mid-sole is too high which looks the same as the V1. In face the mid-sole itself looks to be the V1. It would not be hard to etch into the mold to add this texture to the cast parts. Why the Heel Cup seems to be a part of the mid-sole is anyone' guess. Maybe they figured it was easier to make this way.

uppper white leather innacurate, bad proportions in height

Again agreed. This looks like a taller version of the V1.

using led lights instead EL, inexistence of EL in nike logo, bad leds color and position and bubble

Yeah well, for the price, somethings have to give and I guess EL was one of those things.

transparent soles does not match to the blue transparent color,if you look at back of the shoe is totally innacurate that proportions.....I can still found MORE fails.....

The shoe in the film did not appear to have a blue tint to the sole. I like the blue as even added pigment (not enough) to the elastomer when I did my own clear soles.

Honestly 80% accurate is to be more optimistic with that shoe, I´m not agree.

It is not perfect and we should not expect perfection from a cheap Chines knock off. I think sometimes we let out imaginations run a little on the wild side at times if we thought this was going to be 100%. I'll meet you half way at 75% :)

Of course:

I lined up some of the reference lines to make certain areas easier to measure. The soles in both of these come out to roughly 11.5" long and about 1" tall near the toe. Which lends credence to the toe curve theory. I mean the RD Mag soles are just SO flat.

If you look at the knockoff heel cup, it doesn't stick out as much as the real mags, and this together with the second knockoffs uppers not lining up further back is a very slight issue (only if you are being really picky for accuracy).

my new foam uppers on the original knockoff soles, they stick out (from the back lining up to heel cup) further back than either of the knockoff uppers.

I used the original mags as references. it still needs slight tweaking, but once covered in fabric and with laces tightening it, it should look fairly close or as close as i could get it with my limited skills.

Thanks Nick :)

Like all shoes, they will flex and eventually curve when you wear them. I still have my size 8 V1 MAGs here and their sole is so much flatter than the V1 10s I converted. And it is because I wore them heaps when they were white.

The shape is not correct though where I feel the back of the mid-sole is too high and they have possibly tapered the toe again like they did with the V1 MAG.

So..is an replica movie accurate??? Well, that is so funny!!!

I think he means the clear soles are meant to be identical to the "movie" clear soles, and not the 2011 release.

I personally think either is fine, blue tinted or just plain clear.

If you want real movie accurate though, then there should be no tint at all, especially if you watch all the scenes that the shoe is featured in.

Both on the water, when he's power lacing and at night, there is no blue tint to the clear soles.

I also don't think the "splay" to the sides on the 2011 release is movie accurate either. The movie ones just seem to be fairly flat in comparison to the 2011 slightly angled sticking out clear soles.

Yes, the uppers seem to be stitched poorly again, but the positives are outweighing the negatives on these. For what, a few hundred? and some custom mods like toecap fix, and EL additions, you will have a nigh on movie accurate shoe for less than anything near the $5000 you might need to pay for the real ones.

For most of us, i think these will be fine, and since most of us on here are happy to cut up these shoes (i think most of us!:$) we can have a movie accurate shoe for a reasonable sum of money.

To the average joe, they will be indistinguisable from the real ones.

I think he means that the 2011 is a replica of the 1989 shoe, and that NIKE changed the colour for that release.

Cloneprops, can you answer a question for me?

Are the pyramids on the base of the sole positive (raised) or negative (recessed)?

When I did mine, they are recessed and I think it looks cool. However they don't grip well on smooth surfaces. I've seen images of the screen used shoe and it appears to be positive. Yet all images of the 2011 shoe appear to be negative.

Okay, so we now need a super comparison shot of the real mags, the V1s, the V2s and the Poon shoes (before and after conversion, of course!) :)

All images I've collected of the movie shoe show that it has a splayed sole. I think the 2011 blue makes it look more pronounced.

Me too :thumbsup I can't wait to get my hands dirty again :love

The more I look at these, the more stoked I am about modding these!!!!

I'm with you guys. Although I want to try to keep my mods simple, there are some bigger mods that I would just love to try on these things.

...I'll definitely end up with more than one pair at some point just so I can keep one fairly stock and perform invasive surgery on the other.

Well, I agree with Jedifyfe, even if the v.2s are 80% accurate, we're still getting a damn good deal :) think about it, we can now wear them like ordinary sneakers without fear of damaging them since they're dirt cheap :)

all in all they're pretty good, got my pair at the $129 price so we will see how high they stay, and once you guys start making mods it'll be interesting too see how good they turn out.

But being a shoe person, I'll probably wear mine once or twice and them display them
