Interest Niander Wallace's wooden chest for implants | BLADE RUNNER 2049

I was thinking about making Niander Wallace's box for his implants. I want to make it out of real wood, with removeble implants. Run probably limited to 10 chests.

nice idea and nice prop, I think you know that, but it doesn't look like real wood,considering the orientation of the grain, it's more like the ikea furnitures with a thin plate of fake wood glued to reconstitued wood, melamine laminate.

I thought about making it out of fake wood. But real one will create much better and warm feeling to this prop. And we can consider that Wallace is very wealthy man so maybe he have little wood chest made out of real wood.

About price I don’t want to break a bank. So everything should be very affordable. I will make few sketches and plan of this chest. And I will count cost of all materials. Then I will let you guys know how much it will cost.

I wanted to design stencils for buttons. But I don’t see all text on them. Maybe someone has better quality maybe in 4K details are more visible.

I prefer real wood. I can see th argument for laminate, however you could argue that the wealthiest man like Wallace would buy only the best - I.e., real wood. Also Wallace is a man with the sense of touch but not sight, and accordingly would be concerned with the feel of wood grain as laminate would only provide a synthetic touch.

it's just a debate of screenaccuracy vs actual life logic. Then Elilay is the one to decide. Just be aware that it will be impossible to have the same grain orientation and joins because only the lamination is making those orientation possible and also hiding the joins.

Though I'm also toying with putting one of these together. The question of whether or not to use real wood is a tough one. It would be kind of cool given that wood is a fairly prized commodity in the BR2049 world, and Wallace can obviously afford to keep his implants in a wooden box. It would also feel nice. I'll probably build a first version in wood, and then maybe a screen-accurate one based on what I learn building the first.
