Next project suggestions? Acrylic casting

I have access to everything needed to make acrylic bubble free casts as long as its no bigger than a block thats about 2x2x3 inches but have no idea what prop would be best for this. I also can vacuform anything roughly the same size. I was thinking maybe a hellboy locator but thats about all I can think of.
Sooooo, my question is: Has anyone been wanting something acrylic that fits the dimensions listed? If so post here and Im willing to make it!
 
Could you make the Ruby key to Mombi's head case from Return to OZ?
Been wanting one of those for ever so long!

Oh I like that! Never watched return to OZ but do you have any more reference3 pictures?
If so, post them here or even in a PM with whatever measurements you can estimate to help out and I will get right on making that! It looks to be about 3mm thick 4 inches tall maybe? The way we make acrylic is to make a wax master first then each acrylic piece must be made from a wax master also so I will just make a simple silicone mold to pour up new wax masters.

Thanks for the idea and everyone else feel free to keep the suggestions coming!

It's not very big. I have a few more ref pics, some screen caps that might help with size. I was about to leave to go have dinner with friends, but as soon as I get back, I'll send you the pics I have........

No worries! Just whenever you get a chance! In the meantime ill have to look into return to oz maybe its worth the watch!
 
I think it's a pretty cool movie and very underrated IMO. Some scary stuff in it for a kid--i.e. the WHEELERS......and the Nome King, and Mombi and all her heads, a FrankenMoose.....but hey, isn't most children's classic literature pretty gruesome!?!?

Sending you some ref pics and links. I know there were some pretty good glimpses of it as Dorothy stole the key from the sleeping Mombi, but I couldn't find any caps of those particular frames......

I have no idea what these are BUT the shapes look very doable! Do you have the measurements for them? If so I wouldn't mind giving it a shot!

Heres stage 1 of the key just need to outline in pen to clean it up for erasing the pencil. Next comes tracing it onto wax.

What took so long was this is my third wax block I made as the other 2 shattered... I never knew wax would shatter and I use it all the time!
 
Ah, part deux--will assume part three will be the real tedious part?

I didn't think wax would shatter either---hmmmm, strange!?

Just let me know and I will make them, if you honestly want these made, I could make up the measurements but if you have the measurements I can make them exact.

SHYLAAH, this key has been really fun to work on. I have had a huge request for my nike mag shoe buckles but in my free time (which I have so much of thanks to apple firing me!!!!!) If I had to estimate , I would say within a month your key should be finished! Honestly, this is a "props youve always wanted" thread. You name it and Ill make it! Im happy enough with my skills that I would buy anything Ive ever made and I would like to share my experience with everyone else. Perhaps I should change the title of this thread... because I dont understand why nobody wants something made on request (within my dimensions and material listings of course"
 
Also, thanks for introducing me to a sequel to a movie I grew up with (even though the monkeys scared me as a child lol)

Glad you are having fun with this. I anxiously await the day I shall at last have one of my very own!!

Apple's loss, our gain!! Sorry you lost your job though, man, but we always have to hope something better is coming along just around the corner.

Maybe you should change the name of the thread to

"What small acrylic prop have you always wanted? Ask me if I can help!"

Does it have to be a prop, or just any doodad you've always wanted but could never find?

Reminds me of how I've always wanted the Auryn from Neverending Story. But that's metal, not acrylic. Cool key, I hope it turns out!
