Newb, updating Batsuit, a few questions for veterans

Hey all,
I just discovered this forum, wish I had a while back. I always do a lot of google research and youtube watching for costume builds yet never really got started into it until last year. I talked my wife into being Batman and Catwoman for Halloween to some parties and the world of costume builds began for me. I have put together a decent batsuit, from creation/alteration of pieces I created or found, along with some store bought pieces. Now, I'm looking to improve my suit, piece by piece. I am due to be Batman at a little girl's birthday party in about 3 weeks so I have everything at least semi decent right now, that should hold up for that. Except really, two things... I just bought a 2 piece cowl and neck piece from GCFX a couple weeks ago (wish I had discovered coofunkcurly's cowls first but that's a different story) and the cowl fits me decent, except the chin strap. My eyes line up good, my head fits almost perfect with an Under Armor heat gear hood underneath it for sweat and a little padding, against the urethane rub on my head. The chin has like a half inch to inch gap between my chin and the mask. What's the easiest way to tighten that fit up so it's closer to my chin without looking like it's hanging there? Any ideas would be great, keeping in mind my skills with Urethane aren't the greatest as I'm just getting into this game. Anyway, the other things I'm looking to improve are the cape, and the belt. Would love a nice long cape, scalloped. Hopefully coofunkcurly still has some of those for sale because those look amazing. As far as the belt, any suggestions, right now I have a cheap plastic costume belt, but it works from the front.
Anyway, I can post some pictures of the suit if you guys would like to see it, and of the chin issue as well if you'd like. Thanks for having such an awesome forum!

P.S. any suggestions on some really good eye black/makeup that doesn't crack or sweat off.

Maybe post some pics but if your eyes line up good and the chin strap is that loose you may have to cut some of the chin out and glue it back together with a fabric backing. Before doing that I would try adding a little padding to the crown of your head and see if that helps. Just try a rolled up face cloth or something. Should push your face into the front of the cowl and maybe fill out the mouth opening more.

Hey bud, welcome to the rpf. Coofunkcurly would be the man to go to for the best advice. I was going to recommend the same thing that he said about trying to fill in the cowl first, but worst case to cut the chin strap to fit. I've also used foam, the kind that is in bicycle or baseball helmets to line the inside of the cowl with. I found that it was very helpful.

Thanks for the welcome and tips guys, I'm hoping to have some time to get some pics of my suit, and mask tonight. I have a few but most are either with my old cowl or have terrible lighting. So when I get a few on this laptop to upload they will come directly, probably throw the cowl on without anything else so you guys can see the gap between my chin and strap. I do have some EVA foam as well, would it make for decent filler in the crown of my cowl, or is it a little too stiff? I really appreciate all the tips, can't wait to become staple contributor on this forum. Also, if I do end up having to cut the chin strap, what is a good glue to use with Urethane? Because I also need to glue velcro on to my neck piece and I read on here a few times to use Guerrilla Glue. Not sure if that was proper or not, or the best method for rear clasping on the neck piece.

Hey all,
My eyes line up good, my head fits almost perfect with an Under Armor heat gear hood underneath it for sweat and a little padding, against the urethane rub on my head. The chin has like a half inch to inch gap between my chin and the mask. What's the easiest way to tighten that fit up so it's closer to my chin without looking like it's hanging there?

Did you ever get this solved? I've got the same issue with mine.

Not yet man, just haven't had time to really try to solve it yet, I have been using an Under Armour hood with my mask, which has sort of a neck/chin piece so it helps cover that gap in between the mask and my chin.. Still want to approach it though, just nervous about cutting it up.

I had the same issue when I got my cowl. After a little trial and error, here's what I came up with. It works perfect for me...maybe it'll help you guys out ;)

Here's the shape and orientation to the cowl

It covers the back and top a little and pushes my chin down and forward
