New Series Cyberman Pepakura files

I'm not sure i could make one from scratch using the Pepakura Files since i'm honestly a novice at this! Still maybe i can add to the Tesco helmet i have, and bondo the air vents smooth? Still just so you and the forum knows as of June 4th 2011 on DR.Who Season 06 Episode 07, the " C " emblem for Cybus Co. has been changed to being filled in on the chest plate. Also they used the Cybercontroller helmet as well too and mentioned that they were the 12th Cyber Legion. So i guess we'll get to see more in future episodes...

Cheers

Excellent work. I am looking for pdf files of the helmet since I use a mac and can't DL the free pep software. Anyone know if there are some floating about?

Thanks,
B

Obsidianstar74, this is my first pep project and I almost have the front chest plate put together. I can see a few areas I wish looked better, but it is looking pretty sweet. I am not sure if I am going to bondo it or use the 2-part plastic, but either way....

What I was going to say really, is give it a shot. It's not as bad as it seems and if I can do the chest piece I think anybody can because it has more pieces, especially small ones, then any other piece.

I am still trying to figure out the padding and gloves. I PM'd reactor a month ago and never got a response. Trying to figure out what is done between the mold of hand/arm to the next step. I have tried to read several different ways of molding on costuming sites, but can't find any real instructions, especially for that type of look/effect.

As for padding, anybody made one that can share the material they used for the padding? I still have a ways to go for that step, but want to buy materials bit by bit since my money is very tight.

Scouser,

I think i have the right kind of paper ( Card Stock 150 ) here, kind of hard since i'm in Germany and i went to an Art's and Crafts store an the product was all in German (worse case is i'll order off Ebay). Either way i looked at the back of the helmet ( Cyberman) and the Pepakura file, and it seems the file is a bit off from how it should look, so i'll have to modify it to be smooth with the Art Deco contors. So in a few days i'll get cracking on that and i'll post updates and take pics as i go along here. Thank you for the encouragement and best of luck on your project too!

As for padding i have a Stormtrooper uniform that has foam padding in the thighs and shins for support and i'd just go with foam padding that you can get at Lowes or other hardware stores.

Obsidianstar,
Thanks for the advice. I will have to look into that foam once I get closer to finishing. Wish I was not having to tackle full time work and full time school schedule. I would have been done by now! (at least with the pep part).
Your paper should be great for the project. I am using 110lb since that was recommended min. weight. Wish i had the 150 like you have! Once you start it becomes addictive because you see it taking shape. Or at least for me it is. I don't have the helmet, so building it all from pep. Can't wait to see how you make it all come together. It may give me some ideas for my suit that I could use for the convention's masqurade. If I get it build before then and it all works out I will post pics also.

Glad you decided to tackle a suit, will be great to see how both us come along on the progress and can hopefully help each other out if we get stumped.

I have a few pieces folded already, and will try to get 2 more done today. The chest piece was my first fold ever, and it was a challenge, but I think it looks pretty nice, better then the other parts so far.

Now I have a few questions I would like help on and so I can ponder the answers before I really have to work on it.

1) After folding the front and back of the helmet, it seems to be a tight fit, ESPECIALLY the back. It seems very small (narrow). For anybody who has built this, is there padding or anything inside? I don't think I could really fit much if anything in it. I would like to find a voice mod for it or make one, but not sure if that is something I have to fit into it.

2) For items like the helmet, since they seem so narrow, is there a good way to stretch it out so it fits and still keep it functional? Especially since I would like the helmet to look like one piece when I am done.

3) What methods do you think work best for your first base layer of a hardener, as in how to you keep it's shape?

4) Almost forgot! The mask (unless I missed it) does not seem to have handle bars or the vent looking piece at the top. What have folks been doing for those sections? I can most likely work something out if need be, just thought I would ask since the pep files look much better then what I can do by myself.

I know alot of this will be trial and error, I am just trying to eliminate as much of that as possible since I am on a timeline of sorts.
So far this has been a lot of fun seeing it come together. Wish they had stuff like this when I was growing up!!! I guess this is kinda like the next generation jigsaw puzzle. I can see me building these for years to come and hope I can learn to do the designs myself once I am more comfortable with building process.

THanks for all the help and advice, this is becoming a great project!

I should have opened the file you had before I posted unheard. Since I have the old file already built, I will try to do something with that, even if it is just a display.

Will get the rest of the suit built built in pep before I print and try that one, but I did downlaord it already. Bought some item to attempt gloves in a few weeks if I can get the rest of the pep pieces but together. Just have legs and shoes to go.

Um, anyone know if they can email me the files, my computer won't let me download them, virus protectors go all kabloomy!

Just finished gluing together a shoe/foot and after looking at it, I am slightly puzzled. Is the shoe/foot a solid piece that does not bend/move at all? Just wondering how hard this will be to move in.
Plus the inside is HUGE!!! I am assuming that there is a lot of foam inside or something. I could fit 2.5 of my feet in there if they were slippers. If anybody has advice for all the room in there, please feel free to share.

i was able to download all the cyberman files except the left top leg. i know this thread is several years old, but can someone provide a current link?

thanks. great group.
