"New Project - 1/24 X-Wing fighter scratchbuild"

Here comes the final result of my X-Wing fighter. I design some special features on it :
1. After finish the assembly of the kit, the wing can be in closed, half open and fully open(attack position) status. There's a spcial mechanism to complete this function.
2. There have 2 types of dashboard.
3. There have 2 types of Engine.

I am going to cast it into the kit. I will finish the first run on 11/15. It will limited to 20 sets only. Please contact me if you are interested.

Email will be better than PM. My email is : poseidonstudio@gmail.com

Cheers
Poseidon

Wow. If you can just fix that canopy before you take moulds (it's like the "face" of the ship) then this will be great. Another easy fix would be to shrink the brick pattern by half or so - it's too big (not the panel, just the "bricks").

Other than that, it's so crisp and regular, and the engineered features are a lesson to us old-schoolers. Neat!

That is so cool its freaky, just amazing engineering, it may not be studio accurate, but thats not what this is for...this is an X wing at SS, on a whole new level of NUTS!

Yeah, the canopy has that wierd shape that the Fine Molds X-Wing has. It makes it kinda toyish looking. Other than that it looks fantastic! The detail you have added and features you designed are amazing! I wish you were doing more than 20 though. Probably going to be way to rich for my blood.

And where is the front detail on the wings next to the intakes? It may seem picky, but you've done a jaw dropping amzing job that you start to look for missing stuff.

I'd love to buy one from you but thats allot of parts for casting and would probably take it out of my price range.

Many many thanks to everyone here, especially about the comments of the canopy. After review other reference pics, I decide to fix it regarding to this picture :

I also make a note on my pic, please give me more ideas about this fix :

That looks about right. Find one of the many good side-view pics for the best reference.

It would also be good to make the frames of the main front panel of the canopy narrower. Actually, same applies for the back window too. Right now they are so thick that they make the "glass" area noticeably too small. On the other hand it's too big in the side view. Adding the 'ledge' around each window would be a good move too.

If you do this, you would also want to move the canopy hinges outboard to be nearer the triangular gussets, for strength.

One other small fix would also help give it the right look - the downwards angle of the front part of the lower edge of the canopy is too steep. Look at your reference picture - if you slope it back more to match that, it will give it more of the character of the original.

Be careful with your new canopy that you don't make the top of it too wide. You won't be able to use the exact same side slope angles as the first one.

Good luck!

Thats the best X-wing I have ever seen.....thats just awesome!:thumbsup
A few tweaks here and there and it just bets better and better!

OK, here comes the final release of canopy and cockpit. I also built a new dashboard which regarding to the original setting.
Please just check pics to get details.

Thanks to everyone to give me so many comments and helps, especially Nwerke, you are really so nice...
Otherwise, the progress of casting will be a bit delay due to fix the canopy and cockpit. I expect to finish the casting on 11/22.
The first run (20 sets) is goiing to finish , please email me (poseidonstudio@gmail.com) if you are still interested with it.

Cheers,
Poseidon

The new canopy looks a lot better!!! I can't wait to see people start building these.
I just wish I had the money.:unsure If you make more around the middle of December I may be able to order one from you. Oh, how about offering an R5 head for the droid?

Now you need to make a nifty Tie to go along with it or a Y, or a ..................

Poseidon,

In some pics there are some metal parts, others are with a pilot, any chance to post a final pic of the casts to understand the parts that come with the kit?

Wow, this is amazing! I would LOVE to see this with a paintjob that matches the quality of the model!! Amazing work

Did I say it was amazing?

It HAS ARRIVED!!! :love:love:love

When I returned yesterday, I was extremely happy to see a package from Poseidon Young waiting for me on my desk. Of course I opened it immediately! The first thing I noticed was how well packed this kit was. Everything triple wrapped in bubble wrap and clear packing tape…. COMPLETELY sealed. That alone was fantastic, but when removing the bubble wrap, I found each piece professionally heat sealed in it’s own plastic bag! Like it was a mass produced, quality product! Again… I was impressed. THEN I saw the casting quality….. my jaw dropped! I felt as if I were looking at a high quality, styrene injected kit! Every detail crisp and clean. I found little to no bubbles in the parts I opened. I did not open all of them because it would soon be shipped to a professional builder, Mr. Richard Long, to be built as RED 12. Getting back to the parts… AMAZING! Their fit was precise, and their scribe lines matched up perfectly! IMPRESSIVE is the word of the day for this kit! Now… as I described it when showing first the kit that would be sold (SEEN HERE), I have noticed that there is a major change… the Canopy is now correct to the body, making it sleek looking as it should be. His first Canopy was a bit to tall looking to me, but still very nice. Now it is perfect! GREAT Job Poseidon! I simply cannot state enough how this kits fit and finish impresses me. It is beautiful and I thank Poseidon for this wonderful piece! If these are still available… I HIGHLY RECOMMEND PURCHASING one of these unique kits from Poseidon Young! I must sadly pack this up now to send to Richard. However… when I see it again it will be the masterpiece it deserves to be…. from am outstanding kit by Poseidon Young… to a masterful build of RED 12 by Richard Long for the Collection. I am excited! (y)cool:thumbsup
