New life for Fine Molds SW kits?

I have this information straight from revel (cut and pasted from 2 separate emails. The first email is roughly a month old, the second email was an inquiry to find out if any retooling had occurred (I was concerned about the low part count on the card at Toy Fair)

=====

Dear Sir,
Thanks for writing to us. What you are asking is partly true. Let me explain for you. We will not be taking ownership of the molds from Fine Molds, but we will be getting kits from them to repackage. The first kits should be available in the months of Sept. and Oct. Unfortunately we do not have the prices yet. These should be available soon. Please check out our website for the latest details. Hope this helps.

Hi,
I’m not sure what you saw, but it is not the number of parts or the price.
The Revell kit is the Fine Molds plastic. The Millennium Falcon is over 900 parts and the suggested retail is $299.99.
Hope that helps.

Uh, say what? $300 for a 1:72 scale MF doesn't seem a bargain, but then I never saw the price for a FM release of same. $80 seems more the speed...

Yes, I am a cheap basterd...

I picked up my Falcon when Target had them online in clearance. They were DIRT CHEAP right around $100 if I recall. I am shocked that Revell is going to ask that much

The problem with the cost is that FM is still making them, for Revel, and still shipping the kit overseas to the US= High Cost. If Revel had the tools here, or in China, the cost would be a lot less I bet.

Yorkie over at StarShipModeller posted a price list for the new ( & some re-issues) Star Wars kits,...no pics yet

MegaHobby has the Revell Master Series discounted as a pre order.
The Millennium Falcon is 199.99 US$
***************************** Discounted !
too many expletives .........I think Bandai may have shown everyone that quality models needn't be exorbitant ...........

I agree but until Bandai make & sell a 1/72 Falcon we are left with this.

199.99 is way better than the 299.99 that was stated for this model and 199.99 is WAY BETTER then 400.00 or 500.00 for Fine Molds Falcon on e-Bay. So for us that never had the money or chance to get the Fine Molds Falcon (for what it is) this is the best deal we can take at the moment.

I'm gonna wait.
Hobby Lobby will have these on clearance this summer once they realize they're just taking up shelf space that could be used for merchandise that actually sells.

The SW Bandai kits are real nice but most are very small at 1/72 scale. Even at 1/48 the TIE and X-Wing are not exactly large kits. They should make some more kits at 1/48. I wouldn't mind picking up one of the Revell(Fine Molds)1/48 TIE Fighter kits.
