NEW Hot Toys 1:6 Falconer figure

Look kid, you're obviously new to the world of collecting.
So, if you want to be schooled...I'll school you.

Hot Toys says that about all of their figures.

This quote is from their Guardian Predator specs.

Now, take into consideration that you NEVER see the Guardian (Gort) Pred's face in PREDATOR 2...

The movie-accurate Guardian Predator collectible is specially crafted based on its image in the movie,

I went ahead and highlighted it in red for you...just so you can see it clearly.

So...NO...they didn't sculpt the face not because they're being movie accurate, but some other reason.

Since licensing is a HUGE issue (Hot Toys Ripley, Kane, Billy, the colonial marines being prime examples), if they didn't get rights, then they can't sculpt a face.
They can't just make up a face for this Predator. Anything that is licensed, and sold under FOX's name, has to be approved.
They got approval for Celtic, Chopper, and Guardian...they obviously didn't get approval for the new Preds.

Well, as if it wasn't enough just by the overall quality one experiences from owning a Hot Toy figure, it's now safe to say these Hot Toys are well worth the money they cost retail.

Anytime dude, glad to help.

As for Hot Toys being worth the money...I will agree...except for the Falconer (and I'm sure the Tracker).

They can't justify charging $190 for a figure without a removable mask.

That really is part of the appeal of the Hot Toys Preds. You can pose them with/without masks.
If they take that feature away, then they need to drop the price.
 
I agree because the removable helmet is arguably the best feature any Predator figure can have as far as accessories go. However, in Hot Toys defense (playing devil's advocate) after seeing the pics in the link you posted all the work (time and effort granted the artists get paid) that goes into making these Hot Toy figures is incredibly detailed and intricate. Not to mention the new bodies used on the Predators licensed figures is much improved from the older Predator figures.

So from a fans stand point I agree with you 100%. But as a fan I can see over the other side of the fence too.
 
I still think it's an alright figure regardless of the static helmet. However; and after reading many posts on here and on the Sideshowfreaks forums, I think it's kinda funny that they didn't release him with his namesake.

So, now the figure has two very large strikes against it (whether Hot Toys could help it or not), and there's not even a price break? That, above all of the other gripes, is a real burn in my opinion.

Really, I'm still on the fence about picking up Block-head. I didn't much care for him in the movie; albeit he had little screen time, but what there was, was enough to turn me off of him.


 
So I hear Hot Toys will be making and including the falcon bird as an accessory for their 1:6 scale figure. They're still working on getting us a detachable face mask. The removable helmet is not probable, but possible at this point.

They didn't get approval...that's the ONLY reason they didn't sculpt it.

Yes indeed Sabres. They are making anything up possible to avoid the truth. Anytime in the past Hot toys got the green light on every possible Predator figure in the past, why not now, just like you said. It's all about money, and maybee HT didn't want to fork out for the 100% full rights. There is going to be the same gripe when they anounce the Tracker. At least we will be getting the Falcon. Until pictures of behind the scenes of predators comes out, we will always wonder what they will look like. Who knows maybe they short cut and only used Halfmask for Falconeer and Tracker in the movie. But me I'm just happy that the Predators line was able to happen so all of us can appreciate owning them.
 
As for the face mask, we’d like to make it detachable…. However, we have to be true to the movie & get green-lighted from the licensor. We also understand what fans want and did try to “create” a face for him. But somehow it is not approved officially : (… Anyways, we hope the additional falcon would meet fans’ expectation B)


They attempted to make a face, but not approved, it is about the licensing.
 
What Hot Toys has done is give everyone a false sense of accomplishment.

Now, they can charge regular price for a figure that should STILL cost less than the Berserker.
 
Yeah it really sucks. The price should be lower than Beserker. I guess adding the Falcon is HT way of justifying the price.

They can't justify it that way.

The Berserker comes with an extra (the Predator skull) and STILL has a removable mask.

There is NO reason the Falconer should be the same price as the Berserker.

They're setting a precedent here that's going to bite collectors in the ass in the future.

Save the change you get everyday, and I guarantee you will have enough. I saved all my change for about a month, and ended up having close to 40.00. So, take that x 5 months... there you go. B)
