If Tom hanks wasn’t a box office draw anymore, and they could get Robert Downey Junior hot off End Game? Then yeah.

But Tom Hanks is America’s Dad and will always be a draw.

Plus “Lightyear” as a character was nothing like the cartoony Buzz… so they had the perfect excuse to put a bigger name draw on the poster.

It’s not always about politics. It’s often about money.

I don't remember this Tom Hanks guy being my dad at any point. I was raised in the Taylor household. [Begins enthusiastically grunting loudly and repetitively]

Anyways. I'm conflicted.
If I'm being brutally honest, I want the movie to be successful in a way that gets us Keaton as our Bruce/Batman in whatever DCCU is to follow, and gets Ezra out of them. I don't want Ezra around being a ticking time bomb for the DCCU, and I don't even like him as Flash/Barry regardless of his volatile nature off screen. He could be a saint off screen, and I'd still be happy with a recast.

Whatever happens, I think they need to keep a focus on keeping the stories about Barry, Bruce, Dianna, Clark, Olly, Jon, Hal and Arthur.
And not try to make it about Flash, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern, and Aquaman.

The human side of things was a big part of why Marvel movies have done great, and it's why the comics are so successful these days.
And it's why the DC Animated side of the house has always turned out quality stories by comparison to DC live action.

I think this is the end of Ezra Barry Allen… they just want their money back on the investment then drop him after its run.

There are so many scumbags in higher up positions that Ezra is like an amateur. They don’t care what he’s done. But they also don’t care about building anything off of him.

They just know they have a movie they’ve put a lot into and tested insanely well. All they have to do is hold out a little longer and everyone gets to roll around in more cash.

Then Ezra can end up spending the rest of his career dressed as the flash taking pics for crack money in front of the Chinese theatre for all they care.
 
I think it's easily going to pass the 100mil mark for its weekend. The record for a June opening is Jurassic World at 208mil. I don't think it'll beat that although I'd love it if it did on the chance it lands Keaton another Batman movie. I think there's some wait and see with this one. If early reviews are good and
there's a positive buzz, it should hit a billion. I'm not betting one way or the other.

Exactly. I don't want to put money in Ezra's pocket either, but that ship has sailed. Frankly, my desire to watch Keaton's Batman on the big screen again will be worth whatever cents my ticket purchase puts in his pocket. Maybe I'm wrong. If Warner still holds onto him afterward (which I don't think they will), then they definitely would not get my money again. I mean I wasn't high on the DCU anyway. The only movies I've watched in the theater were Joker, The Batman, and the first Shazam. The only reason I'm interested in this one is for Keaton.

That kind of set up could be a lot of fun. Not "flying car future"; but modern day. I feel like Jordan is actually a bit old for the role now, but someone a lot like him would be great.

I honestly get a lot more excited about some Kingdom Come action; but I don't think a strict retelling would sell as a movie, sadly. I've always had a little dream cast of Keaton, Brolin (Sups), Carano, and Cavil (Billy/Shazam) as the main folks. but it'll never happen. lol

Gray-haired Ben Affleck dispensing wisdom is goofy too. SOMETHING made this movie sell. The new variable is Ezra Miller! He's trendy! The kids love trans-whatevers these days. Let's get that clown in some more sequels ASAP."

It’s a shame that off-screen reality always has to screw up the movie business. Oblivious to any gossip I was looking forward to The Flash , all the while not knowing about Ezra’s off-screen behaviour until I read a few pages from this thread, and now I don’t know anymore.
It was a definite surprise though to Keaton in his role again as I absolutely appreciated him as Batman

It's just a clear nostalgia grab though. It might put a few butts in seats, but I think we all know that it won't be integral to the story. It's not going to be as good as the '89 Batman. It's just another example of "he said the thing!" and he'll be gone in a wink. I'm not remotely impressed by things like that.

I wish I could say that, but I’m a nostalgia squirrel. I see a nostalgia-berry and I head straight for it. If all I get are 3 minutes of Keaton, it will still be money well spent.
