New Episode 7 X-wing

I don't mean take it back to factory specs, I mean that he would probably do what he's always wanted to do to it. And that probably means fixing the plating.

The way I see it, if he's a general cruising around in a flagship, then this thing is either sitting in a hanger (with a tech crew keeping it tuned, tricked out, waxed and polished) or he's just let it rust. (Or someone else has it now)

Since it doesn't seem all that cleaned, I'm gonna guess that he hasn't really used it since Jedi. Which says that our heroes end up in a pinch and need to get to the falcon...NOW

(how great would it be to see Han and chewie escaping a burning flagship on the falcon? I'd love to see a tracking shot following him into the hangar, up the ramp, into the cockpit and out of the hangar... All in one shot)

OK I gatcha! :) Well, if you are a fan of the EU, (which isn't canon, anymore...don't get me started), Han did have personnel to maintain the ship, but he still liked to get his hands dirty. Han and Chewie are a couple of die-hard grease-monkeys. They love to tinker with the Falcon. And it remained His POV throughout the EU, even when Chewie got wasted he kept it... Of course Disney is doing their own thing, ignoring the EU, so your guess is as good as mine. Sorry I mis-understood you, BTW. Your idea is solid.

I dont know if its been brought up or not,.....but the TIEs coming at the Falcon have windows,.....glass.....reflections

I cant really make out the new X-Wings,.....to short a clip,.....cant really see any reflections or obvious evidence theres glass there

The Falcon,......all we really see is her arse

......so with the advancements in filming and compositing models (if they ARE using physical models) and/ or using CG models,.....will we now be seeing these much loved ships now with a vacuum sealer?

The Jedi Starfighters had glass and the big clone X-Wing thing

.......What way will this effect builders?......the new Bandai kits have gone to extra length to provide us with options

If the new movie shows glass what will we all do?

1/35 is the perfect scale for an X-Wing.

The scale isn't an issue for me as much as the level of detail. The Bandai 1/72 TIE kit has more and better detail than the larger old AMT kit ever did and it doesn't take up as much shelf space. That being said, hells yes, I love bigger kits!

True.

But if you were now a general and you had your prize vehicle from your younger days, wouldn't you restore it?

Restore it to original specs or restore/upgrade it with a few special modifications "under the hood"? ;)

The 63 Corvette is a BEAUTIFUL CAR! The lines are nothing less than pure perfection (IMO)... but... it handles like caca by todays comparisons. If you upgrade the suspension, blueprint the engine, etc and still keep the original look of the car... Is that a resto or mod? I think Han is a very sentimental guy when it comes to the MF and did mod it. If he kept it to factory specs, it would NOT be the fastest hunk of of junk in the galaxy.

He strikes me as the type of guy who would have "Space Rod", "YT Performce" and "Hyper Trend" magazines on the coffee table... or in the "office" ;)

As a character Han Solo is not that far from Bob Falfa of The American Graffiti, and thinking the Millennium Falcon as a galactic version of the '32 Deuce Coupe isn't all that difficult. Only Ford's Ford was cleaner. But, you know. I don't care if Solo didn't wash or restore the Falcon during all these years, I just wanna see and hear her fly again.

One modeling project that I'd love to do someday is a star trek version of the falcon. Since I started thinking about it, I can't get the idea of a smooth falcon out of my head

I am surprised to see the Empire still using TIE fighters (as opposed to TIE interceptors or some newer variant) but the pylons do look different. Perhaps thicker?

Maybe, if this concept drawing is anything to go by. I only recently noticed the much more pronounced engines on this one.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some subtle changes in TIE fighters as well. They really didn't show much ship-wise of the Imperials. I wonder if a new Interceptor will make an appearance.

A high res reference of the CG model from one of ILM's shots. (Right Click image and Open In New Tab for full size)

I have to say that I'm not exactly warming up to the black/orange colour scheme
