New Doctor Who Series Discussion *Spoilers*

Well, they HAVE put kids on the Tardis. So I guess you can stop watching/posting in this thread now. :)

"I swear, if they experiment with new ideas i'm going to stop watching! I mean it. Everything must stay the same. EVERYTHING MUST STAY THE SAAAAAME!!!"
:lol:lol:lol

Totally agree. Seems like the complaining should be in the 'General Doctor Who Discussion Thread'. I come here to read & discuss info on spoiler-y type things for the show, but all I mostly get is how the show doesn't meet peoples expectations of what THEY think is a great show, so therefore, the show/writer/actor/character/showrunner/SFX department/caterer/UK in general, SUCKS. And whatever you do, don't disagree or defend your views, because no matter how long you've enjoyed the show, someone has watched ONE more episode that you have & is therefore a more qualified expert on what makes a good Who episode.

You should see Gallifrey Base. This is mild compared to over there! Honestly, it's so dramatic its either sad or funny.

I thought this thread was sort-of supposed to be off topic. I rather like that.

Oh yeah...I'm a member there too. That site has two different effects on me. I can read the same thing on two different days & either laugh my head off, or be ready to snap the laptop in half. Not because of the actual discussion, but because of the sense of entitlement & arrogance that seeps out of almost every topic.

I really need to apologize for the tone of my other post. I started off in a good place & then turned crotchety. Sorry about that. I know that this thread is specifically for the new series & spoilers are allowed, but not the focus of the discussion. It just seems that, like most of the internet discussions, there is mostly a statement of opinion as fact, & not a lot of actual discussion.

**I edited my earlier post to hide my ignorance**

Not sure if this has been mentioned as I have gone through so many pages already.
When The Doctor is going through Clara's book (with the leaf in it) the ages skip a year.
Has that any relevance as its annoyed me since I watched it!

No 23. Anniversary related?

Also, it's pretty funny that a kids show took THIS long to actually have kids in the Tardis ( as far as I recall).

Looking at stills from Gaiman's ep.

I love the fact he basically turned that older model Cyberman into the Turk.

just noticed that 16 is missing as well. Can't see it being an oversight tbh, but now it'll infuriate me til the end until they reveal it

:confused She was never in 2011. You must be confusing her with a different Silurian.

Nope, not confusing her at all. She tried to kill the Doctor and crew when the drilling woke them all up in 2011. Her sister was killed by the kids mom and she wanted revenge. She even states that she was the lizard who did that. It may not have been 2011 in the story, I think it may have been a few years further in the time stream since 2011. But it was her, and not set in Victorian London.

I think you're confusing her with Alaya whose sister, Restac was killed by some Welsh miners. Alaya - Tardis Data Core, the Doctor Who Wiki Your confusion is understandable though, they do tend to look very similar with the makeup on and the actress that plays Vastra also played Alaya & Restac from the episode you're thinking, this is probably what led to the confusion.

i started the Whoniverse thread to get away from the rampant complaining (so far it's worked) so i reject the notion that it should be a dumping ground. :)

Apologies. I really don't feel that ANY thread should be treated as such. I hope you know that I meant no disrespect to any member or the forum itself. I just really enjoy the show, & like to actually discuss it with others who like it too. It seems to me though that those who like the show, warts & all, are in a silent majority.

i stand by what I said earlier, with the exception that I never meant that your thread was in any way inferior to any others. That's not the type of person I am & I hope you accept my apology for suggesting that it was.

"Kids in the Tardis" Noooooooo

OK. Guilty. I want the same but new and exciting!!! I have two teenage boys and we watch the show together.
It seems like there is a shift to appeal to a wider audience, girls and kids.
Every fan complains when their "secret" show gets wider appeal.
I felt betrayed by Lucas when he "sold out" to merchandising and put cute cuddly Ewoks in "Jedi" just in time for Christmas.
I did like Clara at first, but the whole season seems to be about her now; the Mystery of Clara.
In watching the extras, the show really is about the companions. It keeps the show new and different.

Doctor Who as a show is a master of making you love the change you hated then you hate the new change because you love the old change.

it's all good. :) no need to apologize. i'm with you man. any day with DW is better than a day without. i also watch with a near 4yr old girl so it helps me stay away from negativity. She loves this season. i like it. i'm nursing a separated shoulder or i'd write more....

Dang...feel better soon, & let me know when that shoulder feels well enough to pick up a large-ish box. Thing are straightening out here, so you may have one on the way soon.:D

I love Matt Smith as the Doctor and as much as I hate to say this.....I am starting to get bored with Doctor Who!

We get a villian that we haven't seen in 30 years and its a thinly veiled re-make of "Dalek"

We get episode after episode of 'last minute fix/reset" that I just say "What was the point?"

Clara is so dull and uninteresting that I actually find myself wishing Kamelion was back on board the TARDIS!

And i'm tired of being told how "epic" these mediocre stories are!

Not to mention I was robbed of YET another full series for the promise of an 'epic' 50th anniverssary which seems to be at this point, a 90 minute Zygon 3D special with Tennant as the only reaccurring Doctor. Pffffft.

We should be on series 9 now, not '7b'

How is it that RTD was doing Doctor Who, Torchwood and Sarah Jane adventures all at the same time and still putting out a full series of each, each year. But because of Sherlock's three episodes every 15 to 18 months, we get put behind in Doctor Who.

I love Matt as the Doctor and hope he stays a while longer, I just wish that I would get the same feeling from these new episodes that I get when I put in a Hartnell, Troughton, Tom Baker DVD and watch it.

I love that Who is on the telly and I love that a lot of fans are enjoying it, but TBH, the show is not for me either at the moment. Lots of reasons why, but it boils down to the fact i like character-driven drama, and Moffatt for all his skills can't do characters. That makes Sherlock perfect for him, Doctor Who perhaps less so.
