New Doctor Who Series Discussion *Spoilers*

Looks like he's going to don glasses every once in a while like the tenth, fifth, and occasionally other ones too, I think. I don't know if it had been confirmed before this but it sounds like they are trying to dispel rumors about Jenna continuing to be Oswin.

Seemed to me like they were having a little fun, joking about the fan speculation
Matt: "...the very first episode to feature Miss Jenna-Louise Coleman."
JLC: "*ahem*.. second"
Matt "Oh yeah, cos you were in the Dalek one."
JLC: "Yup"
Matt: "Playing a different Character"
JLC: "Yup, totally different"
Then
Matt "So you couldn't be the same character at Christmas, that would be just... impossible."
JLC: :rolleyes "No way"
:lol

Interested to see how they make that happen. In the trailer she looks like a Victorian era person to begin with.

I sincerely hope it's not another "I was pretending not to know you" thing.

I'm interested in that whole Doctor in the clouds thing. What with the two children in bed I had flashbacks to the Doctor Moon from SITL/FOTD. Probably just coincidence.

I do love how they managed to turn the Doctor into a misanthropic Scrooge-esque character which dovetails with where the character is and the christmas theme just perfectly.

I get the feeling we'll be seeing a take on the redemption of Ebenezer at the end of this special.

On the Lizard woman...
First, I find it funny that the Sontaran was the one too horrible to be photographed and not lizard lady.
Second, there were plenty of oddities in Victorian London - in fact, "freak shows" were a popular form of entertainment. It wouldn't beyond the scope of belief if they used this to their advantage. Victorian London was actually VERY weird.
Third, depending on the time period, Torchwood may be involved - that would be pretty cool!
Fourth, given all of the other silly and downright illogical things on the show.... Meh.

Oh I know, doesn't change the fact that it bugs the hell out of me. However I'm not entirely sure I buy into the "it's a different universe" thing. It's clearly meant to be ours in the classic series and this is supposed to be an extension of that. No matter what the universe it though human nature is human nature.

That's part if the show that's a bit sloppy. It's much easier to believe something in Doctor Who is taking place in "our" universe when the incidents are isolated, but when it takes place on a massive/global scale, it's harder for us to believe. The old series did a better job of "hiding" The Doctor from the general public.

As do I!

True, but also freak shows weren't "known as detectives". The way she's talked about they're clearly not using this angle.

Big meh from me and honestly, I doubt it.

Agreed... But there are certain things that bug me a LOT more than others. This is one of them. A lesbian lizard lady running around London without disguise is one of them. I liked how they had her in her previous appearance because she came off the street completely disguised.

(y)thumbsup:thumbsup

Biggest problem I'm having. The Doctor is all about saving the world without us ever knowing we were in peril. It's gotten a bit silly now with alien invasions becoming common place to see on the news.

We need UNIT in here to tighten **** up!

A lesbian lizard lady

Not that it matters, but did they go into that? I just took it that they were the gender opposite of Holmes and Watson.

Also, if true (and I know this is SO 20th century of me, but...)... Ew.
I guess what ever floats your boat, but just the idea of humans and lizard people having sex.... *shudder*

It was strongly suggested in their previous appearance. A wink and a big sexy flick of the lizard tongue. ;)

Doesn't bother me except that it's really out of place. :lol

Modern Who has a nasty habit of making people from other ages VERY liberal in their views. I find it distracting (even though obviously there was a lot of "liberal" stuff going on they were very tight lipped about it).

Interestingly after reading all this I rewatched the clip.

The only reference to knowledge of the lizard lady is a clip with a veil and the narrator...who could be from anywhen.

We then see Strax motion when the way was clear for them to move forward and then they dialog with The Doctor.

No one ever sees them and there is no evidence that any angle is being used or not.

So the speculation at this point points me into personally thinking that Londoners likely have no idea who she is and the lack of a veil for the minisode itself was for our benefit.

Minisode's are a double edge sword. You get a tease but it's out of context. We shall see on Christmas!

You're not the only one.:sick

Fishy chicken... :love:lol

I was in the office commissary and saw breaded filets. I asked the server if that was chicken or fish to which he responded "yes." I said "oh, good! I'll take 2 of the chicken-fish filets over the bacon mac-n-cheese casarole please." He started assembling the order and then stopped and said "hey, hang on. Did you want the chicken or the fish?" I responded "yes" and he put the order together. As I was on my way to pay for it the guy behind me says "that sounds good, can I have the chicken-fish too, please?" :lol

By the end of the day that poor server's nick-name was "Chicken-Fish." :cool
