New Doctor Who Series Discussion *Spoilers*

It came to Directv in HD (BBCA that is) in August 2012. Local cable company has had it in HD the last couple years.

I enjoyed tonights episode and I realised I have seen those robots somewhere else.

Is Mission: 2110 The New Knightmare? | SFX

Looks like it's the same FX company. Did seem like pretty high production values having those and the dinos in one episode.

No doubt the dino effects/models came from the props of the great BBC series... Walking with Dinosaurs. So they were already made and ready for use.

Great ep! Definitely some spooky foreshadowing going on with Pond.

Man, talk about a ton of star power in one episode. Great stuff.

I'm a Sagittarius...probably..

Actually, according to the website's behind-the-scenes video (curse you BBC3 for cancelling Confidential) the Triceratops was built as a half (front-end) model specially for this episode.

If memory serves, the Walking with Dinosaurs Triceratops was built to a smaller scale, and was only a physical model when it was a carcass, the rest of the time was CGI.

Question, and I'm having a hard time recalling instances where it happened though it may have, but is it just me, or did the Doctor just kill a human being? Not through the person refusing help, but actively, locking a human being in a space ship with a target marker that will draw in missiles to kill the human? That was .. cold. He certainly killed aliens who were getting cheeky, like the Sycorax who was going to stab him in the back on the edge of the ship, but I'm having difficulty remembering him killing a human like this before.

For sure. He definitely torched some bad guys in the old days but tough to remember a recent time. I think he ok'd himself to do that the moment the Triceratops died.

I'm sure the admission that he killed what looked to be 1000's of silurians didn't hurt either.

I, too, enjoyed this. Lot of fun.

"Yes, I AM a Queen."

Matt Smith has turned in a helluva first two episodes this season. He made realize a quality i've liked about a lot (but not all) doctors. He definitely has kept that sense of child-like wonder when seeing something new. Well over 1,000 years old and still has the ability to be blown away by new things.

I think the foreshadowing is interesting. It's almost as if the doctor already knows what's going to happen.

5 gets you 10 that particular villain managed to get away. Expect to see him again.

Yeah, I had a bit of a problem with him killing the guy too. I was hoping for him to save him. It's been 10 months for Amy, we don't know how long the Doctor's been alone so maybe he's not feeling as merciful at the moment?

I'm enjoying the new series thus far and have learned to not read into things so much, after all, it's just a TV show and I love the ride every time!
Could always be worse, we could have farting aliens and Britney Spears music....oh wait...

I was a little surprised he killed the bounty hunter as well. Or, more to the point, let him be killed. But I would also not be surprised if he managed a way to teleport him into a prison ship or something too, right at the last second.

Loved Smith's dialogue in this episode. And definitely enjoying series 7 a lot more than 6. I didn't really have a problem with the Doctor basically killing the genocidal guy.

I too was surprised at the Doctor killing the bad guy. While I felt he deserved it, it seems that more time could have been spent examining the Doctor's decision to do it.
In fact the whole episode felt rushed a little. I would have loved to see more of the Queen, as well as Rory's dad.
After watching Confidential, I have formed a theory on episode 5. Will post as a spoiler for those who don't want to see.

Episode 5 is set in New York. It also features the weeping angels. Amy's or Rory's anticipated 'death' could simply be the result of said angels. Which also reminds me of something Mels said right before she regenerates.
I can easily picture Rory and/or Amy finding him/herself in New York in the past, raising a newly regenerated baby Melody.
I'm probably wrong. I hope I am, because I prefer to be surprised. But if I'm right, you read it here first. :lol

Noticed the Heavy Weapons Dalek... Still looked dumb. :lol

Sad but true! Spotted him; I didn't freeze-frame the ep but had the feeling that Shawcraft Daleks were in the mix, glad to hear that's correct - along with the welcome return of the NSD, in force. Do I dare hope this episode was the swansong of the Smarties version? :behave

I am really hoping that when they bring the Angels back this time they go back to the simple creepy predatory abilities of the Angels from Blink. Not complaining really but I think giving them all of the extra abilities they did in the later episodes sort of took something away from the mystique. They sort of Sonic Screwdrivered them (any problem that needed solving was handled with "oh yea they can do now" :lol).

I am liking this season so far. I am sort of wondering what was up with the Bounty Hunters scanner not identifying the Doctor :confused. I know in the first episode they removed the records of the Doctor from the Dalek memory but why did he not show up in the Bounty hunters database? Is he going around removing any record of himself? He did mention in the first episode that he had himself tried to hack the Dalek net and failed where Oswin succeeded. Maybe that is why he needs here later in the series.
