New Doctor Who Series Discussion *Spoilers*

I have a thought regarding the piece of debris, and one of the upcoming episodes but at this time it's pure speculation...

Suppose the TARDIS DOES get destroyed and the "lodger" episode would have the Doctor growing a new one... wasn't that a subject in one of the novels? Something along those lines?

I think what actually happens in episode 11 regarding that is (spoilers and theory ahead):

The Doctor has to wait a few days for the TARDIS to come back to him and Amy is inside (the Amy lite episode) too. That's what I've heard at least. I think it'll either be that or The Doctor sends Amy somewhere nice while he investigates the house he stays in for a few days. I don't think it'll be blowing up though. To be quite honest I think it'll blow up at the end of the finale to give us a cliffhanger. Plus they can then use the console designed by a Blue Peter contestant during the Christmas episode with him being stranded on Earth until the console made from household junk can sort the problem out.

Probably wrong but still, that's my guess on the whole TARDIS thing.

Ok, Vincent and the Doctor is my favorite episode of all time!

The ending when they took Van Gogh to the future, it was beautiful and amazing. Simply stunning.

This episode was completely moving. The character development of Van Gogh was done perfectly. Also, the Doctor working with Amy after the
death of Rory
was poignant and touching. This is the one that made the season for me.

I really rather agree. It seemed to be an episode more about Van Gogh then the alien in it but it really was a great episode. I loved the ending to it as well. My favorite so far really.

It was beautiful. The ending gave me a lump in my throat. So good.

Also, good cameos by
Doctors 1 and 2
. That was nice.

Up until today I respected you, Straker. Now you've gone and ruined my regard for you. :p

All right, I'll concede he's *slightly* less lame than Mickey. But he really is more of the same: ineffectual male who makes the Doctor look good by comparison. Or that's how I read him, anyway. Maybe I'm just projecting or something. :lol

Question...
Do you think that The Doctor's taking Vincent into the future and showing him his "celebrity" status is what caused him to go suicidal? Celebrity status does some crazy things to people's psyche.

Also, as for how the episode played out...
I was hoping that the invisible alien had something to do with him loosing his ear and causing his "suicide." I mean, if you couldn't see what killed him, what would stop people from reporting that he killed himself?

More than slightly. Come now. I'd rate him somewhere between a Harry Sullivan and a Mickey Smith.

Rory was the new tin dog. :)

Oh come now. Mickey was so lame he was left with his girl leaving him and he was a cry baby and acted all shocked by the end of his first episode and then when he DID join the Doctor he was so useless he was left holding a button for like what, twenty minutes? At least Rory was able to not ONLY take it all in stride but knew about the other dimension that is the Tardis interior and is a nurse AND is actually likable and not a scared little child when the aliens attack. True he was practically ineffective against the space fish BUT he did try. Mickey only got that good off screen. XD Tin dog INDEED. Mickey was more useless than K9 ever was.

I have to wonder if the TARDIS 'piece' The Doctor found has the significance that everyone jumps to, that being the TARDIS getting destroyed... It is after all just a small portion of an exterior part, it could have been ripped off or fell off at anytime...

It could also be a chunk of a regular Police Box and we are all baited into thinking it is the Tardis :lol

This was a great episode!! I actually think it is better that they did not link the death of Van Gouh to an alien life form. I really think it would have made the ending of the story much less emotional. I think that the point was to show that the Doctor can not pop in and solve everything.

My favorite episode of the new season, except for maybe the first episode. It seemed less frantic, and had a whole lot less Doctor "mumbo jumbo".

The only complaint I had was the creature design. I understand why they didn't show to much of it...

Love Bill Nighy! :thumbsup
