New Doctor Who Series Discussion *Spoilers*

Did the show's popularity surge in America after she came on or something? I've watched Doctor Who since I was a kid, of course it was shown on PBS but the advantage to that is no comercials. Lol

I believe so, yes - maybe even in the UK too and I think alot of it has to do with "The Eleventh Hour" in how the companion was introduced as a child.
We've seen a massive increase in production value of the show these past two seasons so I would guess popularity has grown all across the globe for the new take on the show.

I noticed that the guy with glasses mentioned that earth was on a collision course with another planet, could it tie in with next weeks episode? In the original Cyberman story 'The Tenth Planet' earths twin planet/the cybermens home planet, Mondas, appeared out of nowhere in to earths orbit

OK...I noticed a parallel that kinda creeped me out a bit. Amy and River both met the Doctor in their youth and both lived for him all their lives and loved him although that took different forms. Like Mother Likke Daughter in a weird, timey wimey, creepifying sort of way.

So are u saying it's unnatural for him to wibble her wobble?

I wouldn't really equate it to Cube, that one was much more focused on who the people were and if any of them were dangerous. They also bothered to make it a mystery who was in charge or controlling it. They didn't waste time with a whole lot of back story, plot, or intrigue in this episode, they were just going through the motions. One step closer to the end of the season. Come on guys, you can do it.

Ugh, this show's gone down the crapper.

While it wasn't my favorite episode ever, it still had a few effective moments. I thought the dining room full of puppets was nicely creepy. The "devil" moving around in the repetitive environment of the hotel was, I thought, nicely symbolic of The Doctor himself. Not that I really go in for symbolism, but this episode certainly did. The idea of "there is a room for everyone here, even you doctor" and the whole "Hotel California" inspired story were interesting concepts. Personally, I think last weeks show would have been a better send off for Amy and Rory though.

I didn't think it for a long time, but I'm beginning to wonder if The Doc we have right now may be the Ganger. I still can't get over the apple. It was so out of place. It takes us back to Moffat's first scene in charge of Whodom....which seems like a very Moffatish thing to do. And then there was a close up of the Doc's shoes when he picked up the guy's pin off the floor.

I thought the "in the flesh" remark was a red herring but after the apple...maybe it was a double red herring.

I'm not saying I believe it! But it has me thinking. So if he is a ganger...maybe he saw the real Doctor in his room.

Good theory, the Doctor definitely saw a person because he said "Of course. Who else" when he looked in his room.

I really thought it was going to be eye patch River in his room until we didn't see who it was.

I'm not arguing that the show isn't "creepy", because it does manage that pretty frequently, but I'm a little bit tired of "creepy" and I'd like to see some "well thought out" or "well executed" for a change.

He also had a solved Rubics cube in his pocket after saying he hated them in the last episode (sort of like the apple thing). Could be a clue :lol:lol:lol

My bet is it is the Dream Lord. I think the Minotaur creature saw that what he feared most was the carnage that followed wherever he goes (thus the comment at the end the creature made about death being welcome, and dropping off Rory and Amy at the end). One interesting thing, the Doctor mentioned that the bull creature was a Nimon, weren't they in E-Space in the Baker series (continuity error or clue)?

I think who or whatever is in the Doctor's room is Time Lord and/or TARDIS related. It had the cloister bell going off which is the emergency bell in the TARDIS. That is only suppose to go off during an emergency that is dangerous to the TARDIS and her passengers. I believe this links back to the exploding TARDIS storyline which if memory serves that while the Doctor was able to reboot the universe, he said he still didn't know exactly why or who was able to make the TARDIS explode.

I paused the video when the Doctor is looking in his room to see if anything is reflected in his eyes. The only thing noticeable is a broken bar of light at the very bottom which almost looks like it could be the TARDIS windows but is more than likely the camera lights. I was kind of hoping they might have added a clue in the eye reflection since they zoomed in so close. :lol
