New Doctor Who Series Discussion *Spoilers*

Do you even remotely have any idea how utterly and totally freakin' awesome that would be?

Lol, sounds a lot like my theory of him seeing himself gone mad with power like 10 was edging towards in Waters of Mars.

I still say everyone's reading too much into the apple thing, but I'd love to be proven wrong.

Much as RTD brought it back... He's kinda been an abusive parent to his child, IMHO.

While I hardly begrudge you your opinion, I don't see it that way. Sure, there were a few lame episodes, and he REALLY rode the Rose arc into the ground, but he also gave us two of my three favorite Doctors, and I've seen all that there is to see, and listened to what can longer be seen.

Clearly, I only reference my own opinion, but if both of his Doctors rank above all others save the mighty "#4", I think that says something about the writing and production in general. Whereas Season 19 - 25 defined what was bad about Doctor Who (yes, I did kind of enjoy JNT's first and last season), Series 1-4 showed us a newer, better, more watchable version of the show.

I LIKE what RTD did, I liked it more than what Moffat is doing (though I like that alot too), and I liked it more than almost ALL of classic Who (which I also liked an awful lot.), because it wasn't just the sets that were wobbly back then.

My problem with both men is that their respective eras of Who showed SO much potential for greatness, and fell short on so many occasions.

Doctor Who doesn't need farting comic-relief aliens, or unnecessary and irrelevant gay references ( By all means, if you're gay and you have a platform like that, it's your right to take some advantage of it but RTD really went overboard to the point of irritation ).
It doesn't need a "story arc" that turns out to be not much more than a catchphrase, and it doesn't need to have storylines so absurd that the first thing the new showrunner does is to specifically recton them out of existence!

If RTD's run on Who hadn't had moments as awesome as it did, the awful parts wouldn't have been thrown into such sharp relief - And that's a shame.

Uh, remember, it wasn't the Doctor's greatest FEAR that he would have seen in the room. It would have been something related to his faith. The Doctor heard the Cloister bell when opening the door. Looking inside the room, the one thing that the Doctor seems to have faith in is the TARDIS itself.

Yes and no. It would have been his greatest fear related to his greatest faith. The rooms had a father disappointed in his daughter, bunch of hot women making fun of the guys stutter. A gorilla that scared the cop. But then it was also confusing because how is a gorilla, laughing dummies, etc. related to faith for those people. I agree it is related to the TARDIS though because like you said the Doctor's faith will always be with it and the cloister bell was going off signaling some type of danger.

You know, I cannot find a single flaw in your logic.

The fear in the rooms was designed to send people to their faith, at which point the creature would feed.

I think the original intent of the script was the hotel and the creature were supposed to be a metaphor for joining a cult or, at least, sending money to a televangelist. :lol

I am NOT watching this thread LOL! I have already given myself some spoilers from nosing around online, but still want to be as surprised as possible. I just hope this is not the last season for Amy.......Rory is a different story.

Or Russell T Davies sharing cocktails with John Nathan Turner.

Or the worst fear anyone could possibly have, entering a room with Russell T Davies sitting at a table with a glass of wine and a notebook working on Season 5 of Torchwood :lol:lol:lol .
