New Doctor Who Series Discussion *Spoilers*

I've often thought about that too.
He said he used the regeneration energy to heal but siphoned the rest to the hand. He didn't give the energy time to finish the regeneration.
You can take this to mean that he stopped it before he changed his appearance, and it still counts as a regeneration. Or you could say he stopped it halfway through so it doesn't count.
I credit the younger Smith Doctor as a product of his diminished regeneration energy.
And I'd still call Smith the 11th Doctor (not counting the potential Hurt Doctor). He'd still be the 11th incarnation (unique appearance and personality), regardless of what regeneration he is.

Yeah, either way the BBC isn't going to stop at 13 Doctors. We fans won't allow it. lol

I guess I'm just getting grumpy in my old age. ;)

Well, seeing as how the number of allowed regenerations was set by the Gallifreyan high counsel, and how the Gallifreyan high counsel no longer exits....

I liked it. The ending was a little more rushed than I would have liked, but it at least was seeded a bit. Awesome to see more of the TARDIS, I punched the air a bit when we got to see the pool. The Eye of Harmony was not what I was expecting, but I dug it. I guess the corridors they built last year for "The Doctor's Wife" went to waste, but I much prefer these BSG-shaped ones to the equilateral hexagonal ones from "Wife."

More and more I'm starting to think that "The Name of the Doctor" will feature the TARDIS in a big way along with his name. They keep making a big deal since Clara came on about how special the TARDIS is, I gotta believe they're going somewhere with that.

Why would the Doctor's name be in that book on the Time War? Either he wrote it himself and put it down for some odd reason when all he does is hide from his name, or someone else knows his name. Curious to see if that's addressed in the finale.

This episode was great...save for the whole "Time can be re-written" part. I am growing a bit tired of watching adventures that "didn't happen." Interesting thing, Clara was NOT wearing red at the end of the episode.

Also, maybe Clara is the TARDIS?

but she was wearing red at the beginning. i also hate monsters that are foggy or unclear all the time. either make a real one or dont make one at all. its ****ing annoying and strains the eyes.
next weeks episode looks cheesy, im not sure if im exited or not

The time reset really killed this episode for me. I hate that tired old plot device.

Also, having Clara (supposedly) learn the Doctor's name really neuters that particular plot thread.

Let's be honest, it was either a reset or a big reset button. When you have an exploding TARDIS it's eother going to need that or it will reset all of time! :p

I liked it. LOVED seeing WAY more TARDIS. Loads of rooms like a workshop, library, pool, random rooms etc. Even though the corridors looked like Star Trek. Would love to see more not in danger walk throughs.

Another name drop hint thing about his name, no idea how it will play out, but I am sure it will be fine. Loved the dressed down Eleven as well!

Looked like the pool was more of an after though. Still, very cool to see it again. Core is a captured exploding star? Cool as well. I thought the library was bad ass. Got a kick out of the liquid 'Encyclopedia Gallifray' :)

First time in decades they've done much to show the inside of the thing is gargantuan. Would like to see more inner tardis episodes. 50 freaking years and it's BARELY been explored.

BIG FRIENDLY BUTTON :)

A lot of stuff in this ep really needs explaining.

The future Doctor sent the device in the beginning of the episode but why wasn't he noticed coming through the crack in time?

What caused the ossified lava zombies in the first place? Why on Earth did the the brothers merge? Time "reasserting"? Wha?

The Lava Zombies were the potential future incarnations of the Tardis Inhabitants after there were burnt alive by the radiation near the Eye of Harmony and then fragmented backward into the Tardis' timestream. The brothers merged because they were leaning on each other, one was bleeding on the other (therefore sharing already similar genetic material) and when the possible future of them getting burnt alive happened they were in that position. The heat/radiation/time damage fused them just as much as their mutual need for psychological support from each other did in a time of terror. The current Doctor didn't notice the Future Doctor in the first iteration of the events. An item of dialog in the episode shows the possibility of them going through the efforts multiple times and failing (this ossifying a lot of duplicate zombies to send backwards in time) before the events we witnessed, the successful attempt, occurred.

Good answer. I actually missed Clara's line the first time about burning in the Eye chamber.

What's the story on the relocation of the Eye to the Doctor's Tardis?

The Eye you see is an echo of the actual Eye under the Panopticon. Each Tardis contains that echo and even though by current POV the Eye no longer exits the echo does as long as the Doctor's Tardis does. When the Tardis stopped off in Cardiff to suck up energy from the Rift it was probably a component item needed to keep the echo Eye running properly. Like the fact that internal combustion engines need gas in the tank and air sucked into the chambers to make it combust.

Case in point about the Eye: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvnKXOGYKM8

The interior of the Tardis and the exterior of the Tardis coexist as shown above. One is projected. The Eye is projected 4+ dimensionally into each Tardis. Even if the Eye only existed for a nanosecond it could still be projected eternally into every Tardis ever made and used as the core power source. There is conjecture along those lines that have been looked at by CERN and a few other of the think tank type places for decades now. We've already achieved the very beginnings of it by projecting a subatomic particle or three so it exists twice over but is not duplicated. It is the same in both places. Thus the Eye can/does/did exist under the Panopticon but also exists in the Heart of the Tardis too.

If your head hurts go have a pint and mull it over, it'll start making sense after the 4th or 5th pint.

How can Clara read the book about the time war. Should it be writing in Gallifreyan?

Not if the Tardis wanted her to read it and put it there in a language she could understand for her to find. It could even have altered the molecular numerics of the pages to improve the probability of her turning to a particular page.

Loved seeing more innards of the TARDIS. I need to go back and grab some screenshots of the "Time War" book though, will make an excellent addition to any library!
