New Doctor Who Series Discussion *Spoilers*

Liked Bells. There's a whole lot going on. Among the many fleeting things I noticed that Clara's book did not have #23 in it. That'll be significant (unless Moffat forgets about it). :)

We're back baby!

Good episode.

Interesting to note that we are not completely clear of the Ponds yet. The book the young fellow in the beginning is carrying around is written by Amelia Williams. Loved Clara's comment as well.

"What Chapter are you on?"

"Ten"

"Eleven's the best. You'll cry your eyes out."

So is Amelia Williams Amy Pond? That's what I thought.

Noticed that too. Also got a chuckle out of the Doctor being referred to as the Mad Monk. I have to think that Clara being on chapter 10 only to be told that 11 is the best was a cheeky pat on the back for the current Doctor.

Now to go shut off my wi-fi. Yikes.

Some nice nods to the past:

#8 - The motorbike in the Tardis
#9 - First time the phone has rung since Empty Child
#10 - The chapter of the book

I wonder who gave Clara the phone number...

:lol

I'm not fighting with you man, I'm genuinely interested to hear what some people think are the similarities! This is a discussion forum right? :p

I'm just saying, if you don't see it, then to you he doesn't! I don't see very much Troughton in Matt's Doctor either.

I do see him get overly cocky, shift moods quickly, tell his human companions to shut up when he's focusing, etc. Little but of 4 that he has in common with.

Being that we already know the Cybermen appear near the end of the series, one would think the whole downloading of souls may have something to do with them, despite this Great Intelligence.
I enjoyed it. I also really enjoy his new frock. I'd really like to find that plum shade of fabric. :)

I also liked the crying your eyes out on the 11th. Foreshadowing about her?
Edit: Oh no wait, now I see. The book was written by Amy. Therefore she's talking about Angels in Manhattan.

I see a little bit of Troughton's Doctor in Smith's Doctor...

I saw the new episode, I didn't think that they could make two episodes in a row with such great quality in storytelling. These last two episodes were fantastic!

I'm guessing then we weren't supposed to know who the face of the intelligence was. Seems odd to hide it all episode if we don't know who it is.

I thought the phone rang in one of the last few episodes with him making the comment that that isn't supposed to happen because the phone wasn't hooked to anything.

I'm probably in the minority on this, but I really don't care for Oswin at this point. She's a little too... Mary Sue for my taste.

She'll probably grow on me given time, but right now I just don't like her much.

I haven't cared for her since she first showed up. She's a big old rehash of the worst of all the new companions traits rolled into one nice annoying package. She certainly isn't the only mystery worth solving that's for sure.

Some very interesting timey-wimey stuff going on. I suppose this is where Future Oswin learned to be the master hacker that she was.. interesting that parts of her carry over to the other lives. Evidenced by her being a Governess as well.

Some damned good quotes in this one, too:

"Did you even hear the word 'anti-grav'?"

"Are you tired?"
"Yes."
"Imagine how they feel. They got here the long way 'round."

The face was Richard E Grant, Dr Simeon from Doctor who and the Snowmen, it was the face of "The great Intelligence"

I totally loved this episode.
It also seems to me that the doctor is showing a lot more outward emotion to Oswin than he did toward Amy.
