New Doctor Who Series Discussion *Spoilers*

We do not know what is relative for time to have meaning to the timelords as a society nor a reference to how they actually measure time for themselves during travel.

They just do what they do and I accept that as that.

To me the doctors actual age is irrelevant. It does not drive the stories just his moods.

Yes...so he could be ageless. He has traveled the length and breadth of the whole of human history. So his age could only be a reference to Earth time relative to his travels during his interest in earth not in the history of the universe as a whole.

I guess we could work out his age based on what we do know but there is so much more that we do not know and have no reference for at all and that poses the biggest problem with trying to figure out his actual age.

That is also why his actual age is irrelevant to the stories and the doctor is what he is...a timelord with an interest in earth time/history. His knowledge encompasses so much more that he is able to travel and interact with anyone in the universe without fear, as he has a vast knowledge base.
Thanks for making me think on vacation time.

The Other has never been mentioned, or referenced in the show. Add to that the number of times The Doctor has explicitly (and implicitly) mentioned what number body/regeneration he is on, leads to the conclusion he is 1000-ish and on body #11.

To introduce the notion of re-incarnation for Timelords now would be confusing, although they do seem to be hinting something of that nature with Clara/Oswin. They need to be careful if they ever think of using the Cartmel plan, because it opens up a whole can of worms vis-a-vis other Timelords comming back.

Some trailery goodness

The new Cybermen look great!

A few more from the Cyberman episode, looks like the Doctor has been partially Cyber-Converted, next photo shows Clara with what could be the Cyberleader, black helmet?

I tend to agree that his age doesn't matter. I know that I'm beating a dead horse

but on "the Mind of Evil", Pertwee begins to say that he has been a scientist for thousands of years.
Maybe he IS just over 1000 in Gallifreyan years but many times older in Earth years.
Or maybe not, I suppose it's all up to the writers. :popcorn

Would love more Strax. Could really do with less of the other two.

Agreed on not having the other two.

Does anyone else watch Sherlock? I half expected Benedict Cumberbatch to walk in the door when he said Sherlock was at the door and that The Doctor had gone forward in time to fetch him from his faux death.

And how about his costume? I mean that is what this forum is about. I liked it, miss the old one but none the less I liked it.

The Master came back.
