New Doctor Who Series Discussion *Spoilers*

Ok, Just watched this again. What is the deal with the spiral staircase???? It spirals to the right until clara reaches the clouds and then switches directions?????

Also she dropped her shawl in the alley by the pub (they made sure we noticed in that scene) and then she dropes it on the cloud by the stairwell where the Doctor finds it???

Snow was gone when she left the pub but is back in the next scene when she is with the children in the courtyard.

Seems like something TimmyWimmy is going on.

Randomly pining for a Classic Console toy from Character Options. I think they said it was nixed ages ago, but it would be great.

Unless things have changed...the last I heard over on the DW Toy Forums, CO are making no more 5 inch scale stuff. I think they're going to go the 3 3/4 inch route from here on out. ICR if this was including the classic line or only the "New" stuff. Caused quite a stir over there, but I think some smaller scale stuff would be cool. Too bad I don't collect anymore...:facepalm.

New series stuff is going 3-3/4". Classic series stuff is staying 5". That's what I heard. I hope they stick to that.

Which is a misspelling!

TARDIS is an acronym so it should be capitalized. Once words fall into common usage they are often left uncapitalized (laser, for instance) but it is still technically correct to use upper-case.

That's great news. The classic figures are fantastic.

You know...After looking for many many hours yesterday and today....I am heartbroken to realise there aren't any affordable (good) replicas of the 11th Doctor sonic screwdriver. What have I gotten myself into? :lol

Can anyone help me out with some high-res screen grabs of the preview trailer for 2013? I need good shots of the Cybermen if anyone can help, thanks in advance

That depends on what you mean by "affordable" and "good".

The Character Options Sonic is quite good and very cheap.

If you're looking for something made of metal with a nice finish, the remote control is a nice replica (there's even a thread about turning it into a more complete replica).

If you're looking for "high end" then I'm afraid you're right - there are some, but they're expensive and hard to find.

I'm not for sure which one the Character Options sonic screwdriver is...Is it the plastic one that also extends?

Right now I'm actually looking at the remote control one, it seems to be the best bet, as I really would like one with a metal finish. I looked through NakedMoleRat's build; he did an amazing job converting his!

I couldn't believe the price of the screwdrives that QMX is dealing, until I read more about them, then the price point was totally understandable. It's too bad they don't offer a more affordable one for the more average joe collector!

I think the simpler explanation for the switching of the control room is likely that they got booted out of their larger set. The set that they used for Smith's first control room is the same enormous set that they used for the Torchwood hub. The 9th/10th control room was on a much smaller set on a scale that seems to match the current room.

I'm sure they'd justify it by saying he needed a change of space to help him forget his old companions, BUT the real reason is probably just that a new show either needed the larger stage, or they decided to use it for other aspects of the show.

To me, I love the central console, I feel it has a very classic look to it, the walls to me are very boring and make the whole interior look very small, since they lack a lot of depth of detail. I'm still not sure how I feel about the spinning Rubix Cube runes at the top...but I'm sure they won't bother me too much.

Speaking of age...has some enterprising geek figured out how much "time" has elapsed since Angels Take Manhattan? Throughout Snowmen it was mentioned several times that the Doc had been there for quite a while. He also referred to himself at 1000 years old. Not sure the last time he referred to his own age....Impossible Astronaut?

felt to me like he could have been in Victorian London for a long time.
