New Doctor Who Series Discussion *Spoilers*

Adams once pitched an idea of "what if the Doctor retired?". Moffat decided that would be an interesting concept, he's not even slightly suggesting that Adams wrote the script though.

I was of course, speaking in generalities, but thank you for making the needed correction to my post on the internet! :lol

Am I going to have to add Doctor Who to the list of shows I 'used' to watch?

And I found it interesting that Moffat has already come out and said.... Douglas Adams wrote this one! So, if the fans hate it......

I have a 13 year old daughter who watches the show with me. I don't want these issues in front of her. And it's not a matter if the lizard lady is gay or not, could not care less. I would not want her talking about sexual exploits if she were a straight lizard lady!

Doctor Who WAS a family show at one time, we could all gather and watch it together, without having to explain to our young children afterwards, what "that" meant!

Get back to roaming the galaxy, saving alien life, and less 'modern social pandering' please.

Wha? All she said was she fell in love.

And a 13 year old shouldn't be confronted with the fact that people..GASP..fall in luuuuuuuv!?

Oh, noes!

I think he was (facetiously) pointing out that the reference was to "falling in love", not, as you called it "sexual exploits". If you can't see the difference then you have a bigger problem than explaining things to your 13 year old.

A box that is dimensionally transcendant and bigger on the inside than outside? That the outside can (normally) shape itself to look like anything it wants? That the Time Lords invented technology to create blackholes? That the box itself can travel forwards and backwards in time and space in a matter of minutes? That the race of Time Lords can live essentially 13 lives, or more, and can also become any other species they want with the use of a pocket watch?

And towing the Earth is what would pull you out of it? Seriously, if you can believe any of the rest of that, towing a planet shouldn't be an issue.

It's not what you do, it's the way that you do it. The B&W historicals had plenty of royalty in them. Worked fine for me. But the appearance of Queen Elizabeth in the Titanic christmas special...not so much.

My point exactly. It's entertainment, pure and simple.

I agree with the sentiment - to a point there is a bit too much "button pushing" just for the sake of "social commentary". There's a thin line between subtlety and "slap you in the face".

Although I agree with AlexBC that this reference is pretty tame and not worth getting worked up over. Captain Jack was much worse.

All-in-all, I can't complain about the level of sexuality in Doctor Who. There were times when I didn't care for the level they took it to, but I really can't complain.

Well Angelus Lupus and David Ward, I was referring to the comment made by AlexBC, which you did NOT quote your replies. (Of course if you did you could not try to make me look like an idiot, which would have been counter productive to your post) Just scroll a few inches up the page, you'll find it. Go ahead, I'll wait until you read it.

I'll be right here!

There now, make sense?

Don't even bother to reply, I won't see the post anyway as I'm going to update my ignore list!

Odds are, your daughter has been exposed to much worse at school already. And DW is a family show, a UK family show. The people in the UK tend to just be more open minded and progressive than people in the US. (Note, this is note a dig at you specifically, just my observations on the differences in UK and US audiences in general.)

True enough! Funny how Davison was not allowed to hug a companion, now eveyone has to suck The Doctor's face before they can get in the TARDIS.
