New Doctor Who Series Discussion *Spoilers*

I'm surprised they don't go back and shoot Martha in the head just to even things out.

They didn't have to: she married Mickey the Idiot. :lol

As Amy and Rory living a normal life; the only way for them to have that was for him not be able to be part of their lives anymore. He was like a drug pusher and they were addicts. Fine and normal when their "source" wasn't around but the second he showed up their lives got tossed for their latest high on that drug called adventure. By being timelocked away from him for the rest of their days they could have something of a normal life and they kinda did although their time with him made them forces for good and change in their own rights.

My wife and I talked a lot last night more about Rory and the constant abuse he took and how, unlike Mickey, it led to obvious and massive improvement and character evolvement. Mickey also evolved some but not nearly as much on camera as Rory did.

Agreed on all accounts. I also like how after the Doctor they didn't become "Head of Torchwood" or some other ridiculous position. Clearly by their grave they led normal lives.

Great episode. Very emotional. I can't stop thinking about it. I can see all sorts of ways for them to be out of the situation, but I know that's not entirely the point. It was time to move on.
It is a bit of a smack in the face to have this "they are not only gone, but dead, nothing you can do about it" kind of thing going on. There is something. River can still go back there when she wants. Grab a couple more bracelets and get them out, fake the tombstone... Anyway, again, that isn't the point.

Why would they have stayed in the US?

"they are not only gone, but dead, nothing you can do about it"

Makes me think that motief will mean that the young lady turned into a Dalek in Asylum isn't only the actress playing the companion but also the character who will be the companion. We all know what happens when the Doctor gets frustrated and angry enough with a repeated conecpt in his life, especially his later incarnations. I get the feeling he's going to do something that might be farily drastic to the web of time all because he's grown tired again of being told "no" about saving certain lives when he feels that more positive can be gained from saving them from their fates.

That one's pretty easy. Even in 1963 there were shared records between the US and the UK. If they showed up at the UK consulate saying they were citizens but their birth certificates weren't on record (because they weren't born yet) then they'd be trapped in limbo. Smarter of them is to settle where they landed and be honest about where they're from only geograhpically and certainly not temporally.

Once established in the US they should have been able to go back to the UK.

Rory died 3 times this episode. That's a new record for him, isn't it?

Yeah and if wishes were horses we'd all be eating steak. It does say later in the article that later in life Amy was a world traveller so it got cleared up somehow at some point but not immediatly.

Man's gotta do what he's good at, you know.

Wasn't the idea that they were trapped in the building - presumably because of the angels everywhere? The Doctor said something to Rory along the lines of "You'll live the rest of your life in that room".

That was while they were trapped in the alternate timeline. Rory and Amy jumping off the roof and dying created a paradox which destroyed the alternate timeline. Rory can be trapped to age and die over the decades in a room in Winter Quay if he jumped to his death already.

Yes but they fixed that problem. They're talking about the very last time they were sent back. :thumbsup

Come to think of it. Amy & Rory were probably a lot safer to stay far away from the UK. Less risk of changing their own futures that way.

Yup. Last thing you need is to pick up a cute baby and have the Blonovitch Limitation Effect blast a small hole in reality right where you are.

A friend posted this on my Facebook timeline. I don't know it's origins and doubt its canonicity, (That is to say I 100% believe it to be fanfiction) BUT, here it is anyway:
