Re: New Chrispother Reeve 1.1 Scale Silicone Superman statue W.I.P

Looking pretty dam good to me so far. Vast improvement from the last one Rich. Its a far way off, but the hair and how its styled is as important as the sculpt itself.

I cant wait to see this finished. Ive NEVER seen any artist progress and advance his skills as FAST as you have bro. Very impressive!!!!!

Re: New Chrispother Reeve 1.1 Scale Silicone Superman statue W.I.P

fantastic work! The eyes and cheeks are spot on... throw some hair on him and you could pass it off as a photo! :)

Re: New Chrispother Reeve 1.1 Scale Silicone Superman statue W.I.P

Amazing work as always! I know you say that it's still a WIP and I'm sure you're already making improvements, but if you decided to offer it as is, I'm sold :thumbsup

Re: New Chrispother Reeve 1.1 Scale Silicone Superman statue W.I.P

It looks great. I keep waiting for it to blink it looks so real. I think that smirk was definitely his even outside of character. One of those smirks that are infectious and makes everyone smile.

Super ! Super !! Super !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The likeness is SUPER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: New Chrispother Reeve 1.1 Scale Silicone Superman statue W.I.P

Very, very cool :)

Are you going to make a custom base for him? Might do best with a faux brick wall/concrete floor. That expression really reminds me of the apartment scene in the first movie.

I totally agree about the hair, when I did the last one, I didn't do the hair line low enough and didn't have the correct eyebrow shape and it looked completely different when I corrected those things.

Putting the hair and brows in doesn't worry my this time round but the styling does, I'm going to be doing a lot of experimenting to try and get it right

I realise it's a lot of effort, but any chance you could post a little paragraph just giving a basic explanation of what you did from scratch? Not to give away trade secrets, just interested in the methodology. I'd love to create a head or bust one day.

Thanks

Wow I have to agree its very iconic. Possibly the best I have seen also love the feeling.

Re: New Christopher Reeve 1.1 Scale Silicone Superman statue W.I.P

It does look a LOT better than your previous effort and as Bobby said it definately is feeling a lot more like Reeve in there...

Just a few more pointers following on from the email I sent you all those months ago when you said to me you wanted to resculpt Reeve.... The top lip seems to be to straight... it needs a little bit more of the kink in the middle like an M... at the moment it more like an upside down V. The ears need to be more flared out in the middle and look like jug handles almost. The neck needs more bulk. Also the left nostral looks a bit off - might need to come down a touch and I'd definately narrow down the tip of the nose to touch... Reeves nose is very narrow and almost perfectly symmetrical.

hi Phil.

we are on the same page mate, I have already dipped the centre of the lip and completly changed the shape of the ears to look like mg handles. I do think the nostrils need a bit of work still.

That. Is. Amazing! I can't wait to see more!

Re: New Christopher Reeve 1.1 Scale Silicone Superman statue W.I.P

Reeve is the one and only Superman.

I love the pose. The semi serious look really works for him.

Great job sculpting him. Keep us updated! :thumbsup

Chris

I am making a base, Its not going to be themed but just simple and stylish ( hopefully)

I realise it's a lot of effort, but any chance you could post a little paragraph just giving a basic explanation of what you did from scratch? Not to give away trade secrets, just interested in the methodology. I'd love to create a head or bust one day.

It's very hard to explain but in a nutshell, I like to build up the basic skull first, then add the muscle mass and then start blending it all together. The main thing is to get nice big reference pictures and take lots of measurements.
Also, it's great to get a second set of eyes on it as it's easy to start seeing what it should look like instead of what it actually does look like

Re: New Christopher Reeve 1.1 Scale Silicone Superman statue W.I.P

Wow! That bust is really amazing!!!

Hope to see more pics as soon as possible...
