New big-screen Star Wars Rey movie announced at SW Celebration 2023

Just what we always wanted. Great.
Goddamn I feel like the Padme meme.

Me: We are just going to have a Rey jedi movie right?
Disney: ….

I guess they want to make a new “the one” with Rey’s baby born through immaculate conception but damn. Back in my star wars, this would have been a proposal by Mad TV. This is beyond parody.

Also, if Ben is the father, this is kinda low-key incest. Its arguable that Palpatine created Anakin through force experiments with Plaguis and this is the “common” understanding behind Anakin’s creation. Palpatine isnt Annie’s daddy but kind of is.

That’s too on the nose. I doubt if there is any pre-production art….there’s not even a script. Besides, characters are born in pods, like bean plants, in the strange Star Wars universe; a place where normal romantic relationships really don’t exist.

I will just say that if Rey is pregnant in the movie, she will have twins (Disney can't do original) and they will be girls (Force is female remember). They will have the highest midichlorian count, like 50 times higher than Anakin's. Then they will be able to use the Force right in the birthing room, which Disney will show by having the medical instruments shift or something. On top of that, as soon as they can walk they are fully trained lightsaber duelists, because REY!!!!

The way LFL is going, it's a matter of time before a main character wakes up in bed at the end of a trilogy and says "Wow, what a wild dream!"

I'm exaggerating, but not by much. IMO it's entirely possible that they made Rey pregnant just to generate some buzz and it didn't come from any story plan whatsoever.

Just for fun, let’s consider that (likely) ChatGPT-generated image is real…

These would still be “Palpatine Babies” so maybe you can’t feed them after midnight, or maybe you can’t spill water on them, otherwise they will transform into monster-faced minions of the Dark Side.

That would be an interesting film.

They apparently have been talking about this for over a year. KK (IIRC) stated that the script should be done in a month or so.

I really don’t understand what is going on, the whole of Disney is crashing, Pixar hasn’t really had a success since they sacked Lasseter, & now he’s back at Apple (Skydance) he’s poaching all his old workers from Pixar.
Marvel can’t do anything successful lately, Disney+ is now experiencing a drop off in viewing figures of its big tent pole series ‘The Mandalorian’ because it has shifted away from the General Audience & became too nerdy. It also quite frankly isn’t really focused on Din anymore, poor writing , & now doing things that break what George Lucas would allow in his Star Wars Universe, it has basically became ‘uncool’
With the success of A24, showing us that there are film companies prepared to still be creative, films like Top Gun: Maverick, Avatar: Way of the Water, John Wick 4 & now the animated success of Super Mario Movie shows that the cinema audience has been starved of big mainstream films, They are avoiding all Disney because they know it is a tainted product & gorging themselves on films they will actually enjoy at the picture house.
My point is, I thought by now Disney/ Lucasfilm would have read the signs, realised what they were doing wrong & steered away from the iceberg, but instead they are putting more coal on the furnace & staying on course

Sorry for the rant, hope I’m wrong

I can list a bunch of new movies and shows in the last decade that have impressed me and not a single one of them has been a Lucasfilm release. When an entertainment company is run so poorly that they can lose a lifelong customer, and they double down on their awful decisions to cement their disdain for so many of them, that's when you know their days are numbered unless they wake up. They lost me for good and I don't think I could ever return.
