New big-screen Star Wars Rey movie announced at SW Celebration 2023

i wish i had the picture of my stair way... the cat knocked my nieces bucket of legos over, went down my stairs... what a night mare...

You're supposed to say "legos" plurally.

I know the company itself says it the other way. But they are wrong and I'm right about this.

EVERY kid I knew growing up said Legos plural.

With every passing day I cannot fathom why we haven't heard that this whole trilogy has been killed.

I have every confidence that this sure-to-be-awesome Rey movie will eventually come out, and it will come out at about the same time as Rian Johnson's Star Wars trilogy, Taika Waititi's standalone Star Wars movie, Patty Jenkins's Rogue Squadron, JJ Abram's Star Trek 4 and MCU's Blade.

I was actually thinking this movie had a very high chance of coming out. Rey is basically Kennedy's baby/expy in Star Wars so if there was any movie she would push to get made, it would be this one. It does seem that maybe that is the problem though since Knight apparently left due to "creative differences" with Kennedy giving constant notes to his four drafts to "improve the story."

I dont expect this movie to be any good given that the director did Ms. Marvel and her interest is in how Rey is a "female Jedi" (like we had female jedi in PT and jedi are peacekeepers. I dont see how gender plays a role here).

Maybe KK doesn't have the power to push anything through anymore.

I think it's a situation where Bob Iger cannot fire KK but he can deny her funding. There hasn't been a big new SW movie greenlit since before Covid. 'The Acolyte' got finished, but that was a long-brewing project that already had inertia behind it.

Iger is running out the clock on KK. He's betting she won't want to continue in this lame-duck position forever. It only gets more embarrassing to her legacy as time goes on. She will retire voluntarily sooner or later.

This is correct.

This is correct.
If KK was fired or strongly, encouraged to leave Lucasfilm, you can bet she would release the attorney hounds all over the place. She would go scorched earth. That’s one of the reasons she still there… and she’s been at Lucasfilm for over 40 years, so she knows where everybody’s skeletons are buried.

Totally agreed. Also, word on the inside is that her contract has a clause that she cannot be fired "for cause". So even failure to perform won't work.

However, at the risk of getting too conspiracy-theorish, word on the inside also suggests there are emails from KK on file regarding Gina Carano's firing. So it's kind of a mutually-assured-destruction thing. You burn me, I burn you.
