Obviously I have not yet finished clean up on these resin parts, but I had them all out so I figured I'd take a shot of them for this.

i will soon be ready to start assembling this thing and I was wondering if anyione had any tips for me on joiuuniung the barrel to the stock. The two pices are solid resin, and rather heavy, so I imagine I'll need a good strong join.

I was thinking of drilling a hole in each side and inserting a dowe or 'biscuit' between teh two for added strength. Whaddya' think? Also what adhesive do you suppose I should use?

Drill two holes on each half (4 holes total) of the two pieces being joined.

Drill the holes about 4"-6" deep on each side (or as far as you can without poking through).

Get some thin, threaded rod (slightly smaller diameter than the holes you drilled) from the hardware and use them as dowels.

When the ends are flush together, get some 5 minute epoxy, put some down each of the holes, sink the rods, put some on the resin halves, line up the parts and tape them together. Let them sit a few hours and they'll be solid as a rock with no flex and no sag.

Do you mind me asking where you got that kit? I've been after one myself, but offerings are so non existant I started making one myself. However, if I could find a kit I think I'd be interested n saving myself the trouble.

Use regular JB weld. It seems to be a bit more solid than the 5 minute stuff. Only let down is it will have to sit over night.

I've been using 5 minute epoxy for years and have never had an issue with it's bonding strength and I have used it on dozens of different applications.

Plus, JB weld is to pasty, it really doesn't get into the nooks and crannies. The reason I suggested threaded rod and 5 minute epoxy is because the threads on the rod will give the glue something to bite into and the 5 minute epoxy is fluid enough to work it's way into all the crevices.

Thanks all. I love all teh advice. It was a bit more messy when I got it. i actually had to take this one to my belt sander. I've never had to power sand any resin kits before!

I'll post pix when it's done.
