Narcissus Builders Club N Stuff.

Wasn't sure if this piece had been called out. I don't have a kit in front of me but I'm 99% sure these Shuttle pieces are the ones.

I've also highlighted a piece used twice on the front, that I'm trying to spot. Found a couple of pieces that are close, but not 'it'

I also think the Shuttle external tank pipe is used on the underside section near R2's foot.

My original plan was to use .75mm styrene for the paneling pieces. However my plastic supplier had none in stock and would have to order it in. He did however have some other .75mm plastic, and seeing as though it would be painted (and it was dirt cheap!) I thought I'd go with it.
As the paneling details are so intricate, my cnc router was not really an option. I had the idea of fitting a pen to the cnc and using it as essentially a large plotter to draw the pieces out onto the styrene. I even built a little pen holder from scrap perspex..

The stuff I ended up with is clear/bluish, so it was just easier to trace the printout of the layouts directly on it. I didn't even get to try it out! :rolleyes

Although Martyn and I have made various tweaks to the plans, the majority of the panelling layout remains unchanged.
This exersise hopes to confirm that everything fits as it should.
So far, so good.

I'll let the pictures speak for themselves...

Still lots to do - stay tuned....

Nice.... Now hurry up and get some primer on it. So are the files ready? Can I have some yet .... Please....

Engine mount modifictions are now done. I still have one other change to make from my discussions with Martyn.
Once that's finished (and if Martyn doesn't have any more changes!), we can sign off on the acrylic layouts :thumbsup

I might need to see if I can get a hold of some of that tubing your using. Did you end up settling on a sourcing for it?

Did you manage to get any casting done this w/e?

Wow Paul, you're making this whole process look way to easy!

Lol - thanks Lee. I can assure you there is a fair amount of blood, sweat and tears behind the scenes! :lol

Not yet mate still working on the layout. Got the Hornby Piers in so not far off. I'll catch up with you this week to make sure my angles are all correct by slipping the cockpit into your model if thats ok. If so i'll start casting it up. I'll bring the nose parts for you also.

Some good news just in. I can get the acrylic cut on a CNC the same way as the prototype for around half the laser cut quote so shipping a complete kit is looking more viable. Tomorrow I'm searching for some 20mm aluminum square tube and getting a quote on welding up the armatures. This will keep it light weight and strong.

Stay tuned.....

but wouldnt shipping all that to the folks out side your country cost ALLOT of money ??
at least for the folks in the states, i would think it would be allot cheaper to have one person cut out the pieces and ship out to the customers, that way we could get e bulk rate or some sort of break?? just a thought

Yeah... I agree but some folks have shown an interest in a whole kit. I guess some would just prefer a complete package to arrive rather than shop around for cutting themselves. It's just an option , you can choose whether you want the complete package or not .

couldnt you just have some one here in the states become a distributer? meaning, you send all your resin parts for x amount of kits to a dist. , that person could have all the parts cut out, add it to your resin kits and ship them out to the individuals that way.
