Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

Martins replica seems to be a bitsa. Substituted kitparts in places. Missing details also. And the angles are off too from the original.

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

Well the top down shot Fred posted already cleared up even more 8Rad pieces. Seems the topside is just littered with them :)

I thought the round piece was from the MorserKarl, but the 8rad looks closer.

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

Your spot on Lee, looks like the surrounding parts are Karl, or are they already found!
Half cylinder is 100% 8rad, but, lets face it, it IS a great kit for funky looking donors!

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

On the small screen right now (iPhone) but i see many 8rad bits on that aft panel too!

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

God Fred, nice overhead shot. Is there any limit to the amount of photography the crew on ALIEN did? :lol

Paul, I'm definitely seeing an overall difference in dims on the lower engine - haven't checked the rest of the ship yet, but was I well over scale?

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

Simon, good to hear it isn't serious and I hope it all goes well, mate!

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

Heh, i hear ya, but it seems the shop liked the 8rad.
Thank the lord Joe Johnston didnt build her eh? Lol.

Agreed - great photo. Thanks for posting it Fred!

Sorry Martyn, I'm not sure what you mean. Your seeing a difference in relation to what exactly?

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

Thank you mates for the kind words... and once again your brilliant detective work !

I'll browse my digital archives again this WE to see if I can find more rare Narc shots...

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

Mucho Grande Fred!!
Even if they are slightly larger or clearer versions of anything already out there, it's all good and handy :)

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

Here's the parts I notice from the 8Rad, please shout out if you spot anything else :)

There's one piece (2nd from the left) that's on Martins replica, but it's not on the original.

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

Great stuff!! Who's making molds??
I think that wheel is also from the Vosper, tough to tell :)

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

Looks like I'll be resin monkey on this one. Still toying with the idea of casting the rear panels as a whole so as to just drop the whole panel straight where the acrylic one would sit. Dunno.... Like I said... Just toyin.

A bit more.... will finish tomorrow.

REARDETAILS.jpg

I'm on the iPad right now,so no Photoshop :-/

But the hatch near the bottom of the pic looks like 223 or 8-rad to me

And the 4 hinges above the Esso part. I saw the recently. Was sure it was from the 223, but apparently not. I'll keep looking :)

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

Thanks Craig, as I suspected. There's some on the interior too. Trying to only post the kits I have in hand and when I gave up on the 5 footer I gave mine to Martyn. Still waiting on another to arrive..... Dammit!

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

Thanks Craig!
I had that piece on my 'need to figure out' list. Was holding off buying the Centurion, but There's a few pieces from it.

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

Pretty sure that small hatch is from the 223. It's sand-coloured in the pre-paint workbench pic. The 'rectangle with bottom corners missing', left of the four Centurion 'hinges', is also 223, B7.

The tiny round part in the corner to the left of the lone Scammel ramp is 232, but may not be on the original, as it's also sand-coloured.

The panel Martin's used under the '351970' marking is from the Panzer Kampfwagen IV, but again may not be studio-correct. It just looks a slightly different shape and length on the original.

Re: NARCISSUS Part id help

Not sure those four identical Centurion parts are kosher, either. Once again they're sand-coloured on the original, where the only Centurion sprues I've seen are grey, dark green, and black.

I think Centurion part E12 is on there, in the section just above the cut-out for the aluminium turning.
