Nabrun Leids Costume (Star Wars cantina)

Hello all!

As you might suspect I'm planning on doing a Nabrun Leids costume from Chalmuns cantina in Star Wars.

It's not an easy costume, cause there are not much pictures of the costume. The only one I could find were the movie stills and some movie stills of the bonus disc from the trilogy.

The mask:
It was said on wikipedia that the gasmask, wielded by Leids is a WWII british gas mask given the name Mark IV, but I found out it's incorrect and a googled somewhat for the gasmask.
I finally found the good mask with one cable in the mouth, instead of two beside the mouth.
I bidding on this one right now, so I hope it succeeds.

It looks like the head is made out of paper mache.
I will make one using a negative.

The Suit:
Seems to be made of a shiney material, but I'm not for sure, cause there are pictures with a shiney suit and pictures with just a white suit.
It'd be cool if someone as a confirming about this one.

I'll show the rest later....

If someone has a Nabrun Leids costume, I'd like to see his or hers for inspiration.

I finally got some pics of the process. Please comment if you want of course.

First I made a shape out of paper mache, but it was a bit screwed up since my father laid it in the rain (I ask myself why???), so I made a new one with plaster and clay.

Here's a picture from the paper mache shape with the gasmasker attached to it to give you an idea:

From that I made a negative using only some placemats and a hairdryer to melt them over the shape. I cut the shape in half and putted the fiberglass in the negatives.

Next what I'm going to do is finish the Fiberglass shapes and with attach them to each other with velcro. Just the old fashioned Stormtrooper way!:lol

This is cool. Can't wait to see more progress. I love it when people do obscure SW stuff.

Where did you get the gas mask? That's a sweet piece itself. Is that vintage? If so, it's in beautiful condition.

And....

....Yes it's a real vintage mask form WWII, probably used by the civilians of Great Britain when there were bombardments.

I found this one on ebay.co.uk, just typ in ''british gas mask'' and you'd probably find one. I got this one for with a carriersbag and filtertank for 30 euro's, in case you need to know.

I have to tell you that the gas mask is not the same type as used in the movie. It misses a hole on the side, but that's not a problem.

I finally finished the base of the mask by adding some fiberglass between the two halfs. I made the hole for my head a bit larger so that I could wear my mask, without me and the mask getting killed.:lol

I came to the idea to make a leather cover that can be pulled over the fiberglass shape. I hope this gives a more realistic idea.

I just made the cover for the head. For so far it looks like the mask is almost finished and it only needs to be painted with a bit latex.

Hello all!

I'm still very busy with making the Nabrun Leids mask, but I've got one big question. I think only Greedo fans can answer this.

There are rumors that Nabrun Leids is wearing the same jumpsuit as Greedo and the other Rodians are wearing in ANH, but then with a different color and two arms sewn on.

Does anyone know if these rumors are true? And if it's true: what kind of jumpsuit is greedo wearing and where can you get it?

I hope anyone can help me!

Thanks guys!! Your comments really mean alot to me!!

I thought about making some bumps on his head like in the movie, but depends on what picture you're looking. There is one without the bumps but if you take a close-up of the scene where Nabrun is standing at the bar you can see some really big bumps on his head.
I think the first picture where I was talking about was another morseerian (The same sort alien as Nabrun) called Chall Bekan, or something like that.

But that's no problem, I can handle this dilemma. Bumps or no bumps, that's not really the question.

I wanted to make these bumps out of a sort of plastic paper that swells up when you put it in a magnetron.

Does anyone know what kind of plastic I mean??
I haven't seen it for years so I really forgot what it's called...
