Due to the fact that I am working on another project, I had to order a "2 component foam-stuff" and tried to cast some
light-weight bricks ;)

First of all, that foam-stuff is tricky to handle :facepalm :lol

First time, misscalculated the material, so I've casted only about half of the brick. Second try, was a little too much of the stuff. In addition
the preasure extended as well (that foam stuff is tricky ;) ). Under the preasure of the foam the "innerside" part of the mold, moved too far to one side. The "thickness" of one side of the final brick is not thick enough. So i fixed the the mold parts. Last and third cast turned out quit nice.

Enclose some pics. Details are a little less than the casts with "Acrylic one" (mineral powder and a water based acrylic resin) but so far I am pretty happy how the turned out :)

Here are some pics:

Left to right... 1 to 3rd cast (middle/2nd casts back already cleaned up a little)

the bricck in front is the second cast

As next I will try to paint the last casts, to see how that works.

Thanks for watching/reading :D

Is anyone making any of these out of semi dark reddish colored mortar and cement mixture? If so please email me. I need 3 for a movie

miller4546... I can cast those bricks in "a special two-component material and consists of a mineral powder and a water based acrylic resin. It is called “Acrylic-One”. I used this material to get the most accurat look and feeling of a real brick".

Does have the feel and look of real one. Strong and durable. Problem with that casting is only that they are very heavy (think we had over about 2 KG for one to be shipped).
That makes it very expensive to be shipped overseas. Not sure, if someone did a run made in such materials or mortar / cement mixture. Sorry.

If you are interested in casting (foam or "acrylic one")... just let me know here.... http://www.therpf.com/f75/my-versio...nal-treasure-lightweight-foam-version-207079/ or shot me a PM! Thanks.
