My version of Thor Hammer- movie version

Not sure about all the costs yet. I was quoted a good price for the runework, but i just sent the hammer off by Fedex yesterday as well as a 50mb CAD file for the person to look at. May turn out he doesn't even want to do it. I doubt it though. depending on his work and price i will update the board as his company may be a good place for work.

As for the handle, i have dont anything yet. I have been busy with getting the head and files ready.

Engraver having hard time with hammers head....sigh. looks like it is too big. we'll see.

While i am waiting i want to start on handle. As i see it there are 2 options.

One, is to have 1 solid sheet of leather wrap handle, then tool it and paint silver tooled parts.

Two, is to make a bunch of seperate pieces of Leather of put them on handle. I am a little scared of this and hammer will be quite heavy. I think whatever glue i use will not hold really well and leather pieces may "slip".

What does everyone think?

not much. haven't spoken to engraver again. Gonna call sometime this week to see what the latest is.

I found a leatherworker about 10 minutes from my house. I am gonna run by there sometime this week and talk to him. He is a retired vet and when we spoke on the phone he seemed a bit cantankerous......so we'll see. Other option is running up to Tandy leather (50 minutes away) and getting stuff and trying to do it myself. Just very busy currently with job, wife, kids and baby on the way.

Something tells me this project is a long ways from being finished

just heard back from engraver in maryland. Apparently, their new machine to do this isnt coming in until next year or maybe 2013.....SIGH!

I am just getting him to ship it back to me. Does anyone have any information on someone or a company who may be able to do all the etchings/runes? If so please pass that on.
